What is Reiki?

Whati s Reiki?
Reiki has been defined as spiritually guided life force energy that is present everywhere. The Reiki
system is a technique of transmitting energy into the human energy system through the use of the
hands. Reiki cleanses the body, physical and mental, of toxins and restores vitality by relieving the
harmful effects of stress. It opens blocked chakras and meridians, clears the energy bodies, and
leaves us feeling relaxed and at peace, with a feeling of profound mental purification.
The treatment is warm, gentle, enveloping, comforting and nurturing: it creates a feeling of joy and
radiance. Reiki treats the whole person: body, mind, emotions, and spirit. When we tap into this
infinite pool of life force energy we can improve our health and enhance our quality of life.
Reiki is simple and safe
There are no risks attached. Reiki heals by flowing through the afflicted parts of the energy field in
and around the physical body where there are negative thoughts and feelings, breaking these
harmful factors up and dispelling them. Reiki clears, straightens and heals energy pathways so that
life force energy can flow naturally and unimpeded again.
Reiki can also work in our unconscious realm and eliminate negative thoughts and feelings by
washing them away. Thus, it enables the normal healthy flow to resume and restore health. However,
these negative thoughts and feelings are problematic, because we ourselves are often unaware of
their existence and are therefore unable to direct ourselves to change or get rid of them.
Reiki energy knows where it is needed and creates the healing conditions for the particular
person. Reiki is not guided by the mind, and is therefore independent of the limits or experience of
any particular healer. Because there is no need to guide Reiki, the energy flows without the necessity
for entering into an altered state, such as deep meditation.
Reiki is not a religion. It has no dogma and no set of mandatory beliefs. In fact, it works without
beliefs, because they are not important. What is necessary to Reiki, however, is that we live in
harmony with the world; this will bring us well-being. It is therefore important to practice certain
simple ethical ideals in order to promote peace and harmony.
The Reiki Principles:
Just for today ....
I give thanks for my many blessings ....
I let go of worry ....
I let go of anger ....
I do my work honestly ....
I am kind to others and every living thing
