1.  Interesting Reiki Stories:

Spiritual Guides  Submitted by Debbie D...
I'd like to share something, although I'm not sure what to make of some of these things that happen. I
see many things when I do Reiki on people I'm very close to. I see their spiritual guides, their deepest
struggles and some on myself some images just keep coming up.

I have a friend I'd been dating on and off over the last year and a half. It had been a wonderful,
confusing and painful relationship, with two ex's and two kids on each side. We really enjoyed each
others company, but it just seemed like there were so many obstacles. Recently his mother passed
away and I had some "visitations" from her. I met her and got to know her a bit. I don't really know what
to make of it. When I do Reiki, I see her watching him and it's comforting. He needs space to get
through this and his father is quite old as well and the thinking is he won't make it too much longer
either. His father let me know at the funeral how special I am to this man so that was comforting to me.
I've let this man know I'm here if he needs support, but it seems like that's all I can do.

This type of thing has happened to me before, when my own brother passed away last year, I had the
same type of presence from him and my mother, who passed away in 1999. It's like there is this
window surrounding people's death, where they linger and visit and I suppose try to finish some
undone business or leave messages.

Response from Susan:
Thank you for sharing... Others may be having similar expereinces...you are tapping into the energy of
when someone close is passing on or transitioning into the next stage of their journey...it is a
wonderful thing...comforting in knowing that life exists, although it takes on a different form..comforting
when you can share this with others that it is significant for...I am receiving some regular visitations
from my father-in-law, not visually but he is making his presence know when he arrives by touching
me, ie patting me on the head, shaking the massage table as I lay on it to do meditation, and he
passes along messages more in a telepathic way...my husband has been receiving contacts from
him as well...he passed over almost 5 years ago and the visits/contacts have been occurring within the
last year...we have a good understanding of why they are coming and it is comforting to us to know that
he continues to support us both from the other side in the work that we are doing.

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:
Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time.

Remember if there are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long
distance Reiki.  One suggestion would be:  When time permits-- send long distance Reiki f
or one specific request,  then add that request  to an on-going list or stack that receives
unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

Long Distance Requests Submitted by Practitioners:

Request From Pat S....
Pat does Pet Therapy and her dog Mya was injured in a hit and run accident. Below is her request:

Hi Susan, I had just returned from the vet. hosp. when I called you, so I was a bit lost for words
speaking to your daughter.   Yes, Mya was a victim of a hit & run last eve right at dusk.  Ind. Vly. An.
Hosp. had us take her to Quak. where they have 24 hr. care.  I did LDR.  After x-rays, etc., the dr. said
miraculously she had no broken bones or life threatening injuries, but widespread internal bruising,
along with battered legs.  They wanted to wait until this morning to do surgery on her left legs.  The
skin was separated from the tissue for the length of each leg into the groin area & each  has a drain in
it.  The skin may not survive. We're looking at min. 5 days in hosp., & no insurance on a dog. We were
to meet a new Hospice patient today,  where Zebbie will be on his own. They are a team...  Thank you
for your support & prayers, Pat

Request from Beth S...

I have  a long distance request.   A member of my board,   her  husband was just diagnosed with throat
cancer.    I don’t know his name, you could just say father of 3 from Doylestown.    This is a real
shocker for the family… they got the news last week. Thanks for any help you can send their way.

Request From Susan:
Kelly Pomrinke, Harleysville, is currently receiving chemotherapy for leukemia...we have had Kelly
on this list on and off again for well over a year...this is a recent unexpected setback...please send
long distance reiki and/or prayers for her recovery.  With much appreciation...Susan
3. Q & A

QUESTION:

Does Reiki work for everyone?

ANSWER:
Reiki works to the degree that an individual is willing and able to use the energy. If a person, for
whatever reason, is not willing to receive a treatment, no energy will be transferred. If a person is
completely healthy and stable in all aspects of life, the effects of a Reiki treatment will be slight, or
perhaps too subtle to be noticed. Most of us, however, feel discomfort somewhere in our lives, and can
benefit from receiving Reiki.

It should also be noted that Reiki assists in the highest form of healing possible in a situation. Reiki
can only enhance whatever natural healing is taking place; it cannot guarantee outcomes or change
fate. Sometimes, the necessary healing may not match our own desired outcomes. This is often
where the spiritual aspect of Reiki is most obvious. Sometimes, if a person's time has come, being
able to feel at peace with death is the highest form of healing possible, even though we would prefer
they have a complete cure. In this context, the word 'healing' has a somewhat different meaning from
the widely accepted meaning, which seems to be 'curing of symptoms' (for that is what most medical
doctors aim to do in their practice). The other meaning for 'healing', used in the practice of Reiki and
spiritual healing, is the return to 'wholeness'. There is an ideal form - a wholeness - for each of us,
being the highest and clearest expression of who we are. Pain or disease comes from any deviation
from this ideal form and healing is to bring the physical/emotional/ mental/spiritual self into closer
alignment with one's ideal.

QUESTION:
Are some Reiki practitioners better than others? How do I select a Reiki practitioner?

ANSWER:
You may resonate to one practitioner above another. That does not make one better than the other.
The beauty of Reiki is that it does not do any harm. However, it helps if your Reiki practitioner has the
knowledge and experience to support what happens during Reiki treatments.

When choosing a Reiki practitioner, I would suggest looking for three things.
1.  A practitioner who is passionate about what they do.
2.  A practitioner who has a broad and unlimited understanding about energy and
its potentials.
3. A person who gained as much experience as possible, before embarking
down the professional road.
4.  What's New?
Film Nite Social:
Beginning in January 2007, we will be hosting several  educational Film Nites at our
home location.  The purpose is to gather together like-minded individuals interested
in learning more about specific health and environmental topics.  The evening will
begin with a pot luck dinner, followed by the previewing of the selected film and
open discussion afterward.  This will be limited to 10 participants.  Pre-registration
is required.  More information to come next month

Upcoming Film Dates:
January 13, 2007  (Saturday)   The Future of Food
Pot Luck Dinner: Starting at 6:00 PM   Film:  7:00 PM     Cost:  $10
THE FUTURE OF FOOD offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth
behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled
U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade.

From the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada to the fields of Oaxaca, Mexico, this film
gives a voice to farmers whose lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted
by this new technology. The health implications, government policies and push
towards globalization are all part of the reason why many people are alarmed by the
introduction of genetically altered crops into our food supply.

Shot on location in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, THE FUTURE OF FOOD examines
the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what we eat as
huge multinational corporations seek to control the world's food system. The film also
explores alternatives to large-scale industrial agriculture, placing organic and
sustainable agriculture as real solutions to the farm crisis today.

Book: Transformers: The Artists of Self-Creation
Author: Jacquelyn Small    ISBN: 0-87516-673-3    Publisher: DeVorss & Company

This is a book recommended to anyone seeking a transcendent vision for their own lives and
the healing process..."Transformers  are with us now, steadily working toward humanity's
awakening. If you are currently expanding beyond your old ways and feeling an inner "call"
you may be about to accept your identity as a Transformer.

Transformers are bridge builders into a new era- guides for the process of personal
transformation. Transformers work from a new paradigm of human nature that sees
meaning and purpose in all human experiences, even the painful ones. They know who to
lead us, step by step, to a realization of our Higher Self, for they are consciously traveling
this journey themselves.

Filled with fascinating and provocative perspectives, as well as sixteen powerful exercises for
accessing the depths of the unconscious, this enlightening book reveals: "seed thoughts" that
will inspire you and transform your mind, the crucial difference between a "transformer" and
a "reformer", how addiction and neurosis, as blocked creative energies, can be turned
around to work for us, why times of inner suffering may signal the evolution of consciousness,
and guidelines for the awakening process and for your service to others."
7.  Working with Others:

The Road To Better Health May Begin with a Healing Crisis
You may feel worse before you begin to feel better...
As you move toward better health with natural healing programs and better nutrition, healing begins to
occur. As part of the healing process the body will begin to discard toxic residues which have built up
in your body over the years. The healing process usually does not occur without repercussions. During
the initial phase of healing, as your body begins to clean house, (detoxify) and your vital energy begins
to repair and rebuild internal organs, you may experience headache, uneasiness, flu like symptoms
and fatigue. It is important that you adequately rest during this time. These symptoms will pass as your
body begins to normalize to a new level of health. As you continue to improve, you may begin a
process called retracing. You may feel worse before you feel better. For example, if you used to get
skin rashes, the rashes may reappear or get worse for a period of time as your body eliminates toxins
through the skin. You may also experience an initial increase in urination, or you may feel more
nervous. In actuality, you are not getting worse, you are actually getting better. Eventually you will reach
a plateau of better health. During the healing crisis, it is important to not suppress these temporary
symptoms with drugs or the healing process may become interrupted.

Understanding The Healing Crisis
Ginger Chalford, Ph.D

The body has an inherent desire for perfect health. We have the ability to earn our way back to that
state, no matter how "normal" or bad our health is now. But in the meantime, the body must go through
an elimination process to achieve good health. The elimination process is often referred to as the
"healing crisis." Once the healing crisis starts, reactions may be mild or severe. Expect ups and
downs as it takes awhile to get good health back.

In a healing crisis, every body system works together to eliminate waste products and set the stage for
regeneration. Old tissues are replaced with new. A disease occurs when the body cannot make it
through its natural healing crises for one reason or another. The body is "locked" into a destructive and
shut down place, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Symptoms of the healing crisis may at first be identical to the disease it is meant to heal. But there is
an important difference: elimination. A cleansing, purifying process is underway and stored wastes are
in a free-flowing state. The body, mind, and spirit are no longer "locked." Sometimes pain and
symptoms during the healing crisis are more intense than that of the chronic disease, but it is
temporary and necessary.

The crisis will usually bring about past conditions and personal issues. People often forget the
diseases, issues, or injuries they have had in the past, but are usually reminded during the crisis so
that they can heal their unfinished business. This arises in whatever order the body is capable of
handling at that time.

Physical reactions could include skin eruptions, nausea, headache, sleepiness, unusual fatigue,
constipation, diarrhea, head or chest cold, ear infections, boils, or any other way the body uses to
loosen and eliminate toxins. An initial healing crisis usually lasts around three days but if the energy of
the patient is low, it may last a week or more.

Your body needs juices, and especially water to help carry off the toxins. This is a time for rest. Be kind
to yourself --- mentally, emotionally, and of course physically.

One crisis is not always enough for a complete cure. The person in a chronic "locked" disease state
will often have to go through cycles of healing crises, with each one improving the condition some. It
has taken time to develop a chronically diseased state, and time is required to let go of the "locked"
energy, piece by piece. It's like peeling the layers off an onion.

Often the crisis will come after one feels their very best and most energized, setting the stage for the
elimination. The whole body gets into action. Most people feel an energy boost at the beginning until
the toxins start dumping into the blood stream for elimination. Go as slowly as your body needs so
your elimination is gradual and comfortable.

With a more serious condition, there may be many small crisis to go through before the system can
become healthily balanced. Everything must be considered and given its proper place in the build-up
to a healing crisis. One should expect it and work with the body, not resentfully against it.

A healing crisis is also known as the Herxheimer Reaction which occurs when the body is detoxifying
too rapidly and toxins are being released faster than the body can eliminate them. A healing crisis can
result from any holistic/natural therapy such as homeopathy, naturopathy, improved diet, etc.

The reversal process is another part of the healing crisis. It is necessary to revisit each step the body
has been through that brought it to its current state of dis-ease. People learn from an early age that
symptoms are bad and should be stopped or suppressed. They take all kinds of drugs to stop their
bodies from eliminating catarrah and waste. This is very confusing to the body! Mucus production is
the body's perfect mechanism for taking out the garbage! If that process is suppressed, the immune
system is compromised and the next time it doesn't work quite so well. The body has it's own memory
and it remembers all the injuries and all the times it was suppressed. In the reversal process these
memories are brought to light in reverse order from which they happened and people re-experience
illnesses and traumas in a phenomenon known as retracing. The difference this time is that the
symptoms come and go quickly and there is an underlying sense that the whole process is not
threatening, that it is natural and health promoting. The healthy changes people feel after a healing
crises remain as long as a health supportive lifestyle is embraced, as long as one continues to honor
the remarkable and extraordinary intelligence of the body. Give the body what it needs to constantly
create strong new tissue and the reward will be wonderful health and vitality.

Hering’s Law of Cure

Constantine Hering, M.D. (1800-1880) observed that healing occurs in a consistent pattern. He
described this pattern in the form of three basic laws which homeopaths can use to recognize that
healing is occurring. This pattern has been recognized by acupuncturists for hundreds of years and is
also used by practitioners of herbalism and other healing disciplines.

According to the first of Hering's laws, healing progresses from the deepest part of the organism - the
mental and emotional levels and the vital organs - to the external parts, such as skin and extremities.

Hering's second law states that, as healing progresses, symptoms appear and disappear in the
reverse of their original chronological order of appearance. Homeopaths have consistently observed
that their patients re-experience symptoms from past conditions.

According to Hering's third law, healing progresses from the upper to the lower parts of the body. For
instance, a person is considered to be on the mend if the arthritic pain in his neck has decreased
although he now has pain in his finger joints.

As the symptoms change in accordance with Hering's Law, it is common for individual symptoms to
become worse than they had been before treatment. If healing is truly in progress, the patient feels
stronger and generally better in spite of the aggravation. Before long, the symptoms of the aggravation
pass, and leave the person healthier on all levels.

Sadly, most conventional medical doctors treat each symptom as a unique and unconnected
phenomenon. A person's skin rash generally would be treated with cortisone, thus suppressing it,and,
possibly, reactivating the person's asthma. The mentally ill person's new physical symptom is also
suppressed, leading to a relapse of the mental illness.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HEALING CRISIS AND ILLNESS?

There are symptoms during a healing crisis that may be confused with illness but the difference is that
these symptoms are short in duration and move from one part of the body to another, from inside out
and from top to bottom. There is usually a lack of appetite and may be a fever. Illness is a very different
scenario where one or more of the organs are not working well, causing toxic build up of waste
material that can't get out. There is fear during illness, a feeling of being out of control as opposed to
the prevailing feeling during a healing crisis that underneath all the symptomology everything is
working just the way it should and everything is really OK. The reversal process is another part of the
healing crisis. It is necessary to revisit each step the body has been through that brought it to its
current state of dis-ease. People learn from an early age that symptoms are bad and should be
stopped or suppressed.

9.  Tips & Tidbits:

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 10:  Finish An Uncompleted Job
How many unfinished jumpers are there in your cupboard?  Unfinished books on your shelf?  Partly
written letters in your bureau? Unused jam recipes in your recipe file? How many of your inspirations
have only partly materialized? Sometimes it doesn't matter if the project is unfinished, maybe it wasn't
what you thought it would be. If that half jumper is a disaster then throw it away. We all have half-
completed jobs that we don't finish which we continually think we "should" finish. These unfinished
projects are wind-ups--either throw them out and forget about them or finish them.

Exercise:
1. Make a list of all your unfinished jobs.
2. Decide which ones can hit the rubbish bin.
3.  Choose one of the rest and FINISH IT! Your self-respect will reach dizzy heights.

Next Month:  Celebrate Your Aloneness

PUMPKIN...Inspirational Story
Submitted by Lynn Yeatman

A woman was asked by a coworker, "What is it like to be a Christian?" The coworker replied, "It is like
being a pumpkin.  God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then
he cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc.,
and then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to
see." This was passed on to me from another pumpkin.  Now, it is your turn to pass it to a pumpkin.
I liked this enough to send it to all the pumpkins in my patch.

THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS AS IT SEEMS...Inspirational Story
Author Unknown

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude
and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guestroom. Instead the angels were given a small
space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in
the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't
always what they seem."

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife.
After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could
have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his
wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.

The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel "How could you have let this happen?
The first man had everything, yet you helped him," she accused. "The second family had little but was
willing to share everything, and you let the cow die."

"Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied. "When we stayed in the basement of
the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so
obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it.
Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow
instead.

"Things aren't always what they seem."

The moral of this story: Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way
they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every out come is always to your advantage.
You might not know it until some time later.
