1.  Interesting Reiki Stories:

Batteries Revived:
Scott and I went to the Nature Lyceum for an awesome class on organics.  I had
my camera with me to take pictures and thought I put some extra batteries in the
carrying case. Well as luck would have it, when I went to use the camera, the
batteries did not have enough juice in them to take any photos and the extra
batteries could not be located. So I took the batteries out and Reiki-ed them for
about 7-8 minutes, then tried again. Volia! It worked and we were able to use the
camera the rest of the trip with the reiki-ed batteries.  I have done this on a few
other occasions, but it still always amazes and surprises me that it works
-- Susan Anderson

We did not have any other stories submitted this month by our practitioners, but I
have included a few William Rand's site reiki.org:

Reiki and Prostate Cancer
With the thought of promoting Reiki, I called an assisted-living center to offer an
Introduction to Reiki class with free mini-Reiki sessions. When I asked the social
director if he was familiar with Reiki he said, "Let me tell you my story," and
proceeded to tell me that he had been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer.
His massage therapist, Reiki Level II, had been told by a psychic that he (the social
director) needed to receive three treatments in close succession by three Reiki
healers. I quickly set things in motion and our team performed Reiki on Monday,
Wednesday, and Saturday. No other treatment was given. Prior to treatment his
test confirmed he was 4.0 and his doctor diagnosed that he had prostate cancer.
The Monday after we completed the three treatments he was again tested. On the
following Wednesday he called to say the test results showed 0.3 and that he was
free of cancer. He remarked that in all of his life the test results were never that low.
I am so honored to have been a part of his healing. I feel honored to be called by
Reiki, a major part of my life.    —Phran Gacher, Stamford, Connecticut

Reiki Saved My Tooth
A few months ago I had an abscessed tooth.  I had an appointment scheduled
for a root canal and crown when I realized that I hadn't signed up for dental
insurance at work and that the bill would be more than I could afford.  I asked
my husband to try some Reiki on my tooth (the side of my face).  The pain
was gone.

I called the dentist to cancel the appointment and he suggested that I come in
just to see.  I went in, he x-rayed, and there was no problem.  Since then the
tooth has twinged every now and then, but I've had no more problems with the
kind of pain I'd been having.  —Fran

Burn Healed
One morning I was making myself a cup of tea and while pouring the hot water
into the cup, I accidentally poured the boiling water over my hand! In agony, I
ran it under cold water, then grabbed ice from the freezer and held it onto my
hand while doing Reiki on it. I had to repeat the ice and then continued with the
Reiki for about 15-20 minutes while having a phone conversation. When I hung
up I looked at my hand and saw that there was absolutely no sign of a burn!
Nothing! I was so very grateful because years ago I had a similar accident and
had to spend the night with my hand in an ice bucket and went through all the
blistering etc. that goes with such a burn. I seem to have success with "right away"
Reiki. I have staved off several nasty bruises and a very painful banged knee by
applying Reiki immediately to the injured area!  - Tony

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:
Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time.

Remember if there are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long
distance Reiki.  One suggestion would be:  When time permits-- send long distance Reiki f
or one specific request,  then add that request  to an on-going list or stack that receives
unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

Long Distance Requests Submitted by Practitioners::

For LAF of Line Lexington, PA- please send LDR for help with Bi- Polar disease and hope that
meds get sorted soon.

For JPF of Perkasie, please send strength to diet enough in the next 3 months, not to have
diabetes.

For DGS of Perkasie, that her peripheral neuropathy maybe eased and that tests do not show any
relationship between the neuropathy and diabetes. Also, please send LDR for ease of pain due to
osteo-arthritis.

For Harold F. of  Pipersville after a car accident 8/05/06

For all teachers returning to school, that they may do their very best for the students they teach.

For all students learning to drive - that they focus, and  drive carefully so that Pennridge and
other schools do not have to suffer through student fatalities.

For all students unable to attend school due to illness, that they may heal.

3.  Q & A

Q:  How many treatments can you give in one day?  What is the most you have
given?

A.  There is no standard answer, this depends on the practitioner giving the
sessions, and the objective of what the client is trying to accomplish during
the session. Some sessions are for accessing levels of relaxation, while
others are for deeper healing on all levels.  The time spent with a client
before and after a session will vary as well.

Personally I would not want to do more than 3 full sessions in one day, but
when giving sample sessions or shorter sessions during a wellness expo or
fair, I have done up to 10 sessions in one day.  As always, let your intuition
guide you and you can't go wrong.

Q.  Do I always need to know why a client is coming in for a Reiki Session.

A.  The more you can help your client focus in on what they want to achieve in
a session, the more productive it will be for them.  They may or may not give
you a good idea as to why they are coming for a session.  I have had clients
who provide very general information and ones that go into greater detail.
Whatever approach they wish to take, it is what they are comfortable with..
the Reiki does the work...the recipient receives the Reiki energy and works
on whatever level of awareness they are ready for.

4.  What's New?
After a busy month of August, we have completed our move from New Britain.
We are looking forward to the new direction and the excitement it brings!

Because of the transition and the reorganizing of space, will not be having
our monthly Reiki share in Sept nor will we have the Tuesday evening Reiki
Level I class. Our regular schedule will resume in October.

The Reiki Newsletter will now be posted on the website.  I will send each of you
the link each month in an email to access it.  Issues will now be archived.  If I
have the time at some point I may go back and archive the earlier issues. Our
first Reiki newsletter was posted 5 years ago.

I hope you will have an opportunity to take a look at our revised website, it
contains a lot of information you will find useful.

6.  Recommendations:
Book: Robes- A Book of Coming Chnages
Author:  Penny Kelly       ISBN: 0-595-19837-6

This was a book that  was given to me and recommended by a friend months ago. It sat on the
shelf for quite some time until I opened it last week.  In a captivating style of writing, Penny Kelly
delivers a powerful message and view of future possibilities.

From Back Cover:
"For those interested in the future, "Robes" is a book of global dimensions, that offers a
compelling look at the next century. By turns startling, comforting, enlightening, and unnerving,
it takes a deep look at the coming changes in nations and their governments, as well as the
rise of business to power. It expands to examine everything from education and population, to
wars, weather, food, and famine, including the emerging human potential embedded in the
mind/body system.

"The most important thing for you to remember as you look at these events," said the little
men in brown robes, "is that things could be so much easier if you understood why these
things are happening, and if you worked with them instead of against them. For you to work
with them, however, you must have some idea of where you are going."

Presenting a picture of what we could create, "Robes" urges us to maintain a vision of
beauty, truth, and freedom in the midst of worldwide change."

7.  Working with Others:
The Voice and Consciousness
Adapted from The Big Book of Relaxation

Every person holds a map of consciousness within their voice. The energy inside
the voice directly affects the mind and body.  Using the voice is an efficient and
natural way to massage the bones, organs and skin from the inside out.  It is a
natural accessory for the release of tension, the stimulation of the mind, the
expression of thoughts and bridging the emotions with the mind.

Forms of drumming, singing, and chanting all create endorphin releases that
reduce pain, calm the mind, lower brain wave patterns and balance the body.  Music
therapists are using the voice as a tool for healing the link between conscious
expression and physical disabilities.

New forms of healing and relaxation insist that the generation of the vibration come
from within the client rather than through the instrument, the drum, a recording or the
voice or music of the therapist.  New systems are encouraging you to do it
yourself…to tune in and tune up.

Self-created relaxation is actually a repatterning and retraining of the mind and body
through various levels of sound production from the voice and muscle rhythms of the
body.  With the voice and the awareness of making inner sounds in the mind, you can
begin to find effective and readily available ways to tune in and tune up your
consciousness, body and emotions.

Below are some exercises you may want to begin experimenting with to help induce
relaxation.  Although they sound easy, obvious and quite unsophisticated, give
yourself two weeks to  explore their power, their ease and remarkable results.

Exercise 1:  I AM VIBRATION
Sit comfortably in a chair so there is a feeling of relaxing upward.  Close your eyes
and imagine your whole body as a balloon. Inhale, sensing your body expanding with
ease.  Then exhale, visualizing your body releasing air from every pore in the body.

Continue to sense the balloon gently expanding and releasing with deep long
exhalations and inhalations for about 2 or 3 minutes.

When you feel comfortable with the breath, then relax the jaw and allow a HUM to
begin. It is not a melody, a chant, or a tune…it is a tone.  This tone is not being made
for the purpose of making beautiful or musical sound. It is being made for the purpose
of  massaging the body from the inside out. The jaw is loose, the teeth are slightly
apart and the lips are together.  The sound is low and soft.  In your mind, think:

I am exhaling tension by massaging the body and mind with vibration
I am inhaling harmony and well-being
I am vibration

Complete this exercise for 4 to 5 minutes each morning and evening a week to tune
up your world! Let your critical, verbal brain to take a rest and allow the rest of your
brain and body to naturally attune itself.

Exercise 2:  Relax with Vowels
Set aside a time where you can explore the vowel sounds. Sit comfortable in a chair
and exhale a few times releasing thought. Then for 3 -5 minutes begin to tone with a
relaxed jaw. Place the palm of your hand just below your throat so that it rests
comfortably on the upper part of your chest. Bring the other hand to your cheek and
allow your head to gently rest on your hand.  Close your eyes.

Day One:       Open the lips slightly and make an “eh “ sound.
Day Two:       Relax the jaw and make an “eee” sound
Day Three:    Make a gentle  “ah”  sound
Day Four:       Make a long restful “ oh”  sound
Day Five:       Make a gentle “ouuuu”  sound

Imagine you are deaf and that all the energy of the sounds is massaging your body
from within. Let you hands be your ears and sense the vibratory power. Do not look
for an outcome, just be aware of the presence.

After your time of toning, put your hands in your lap, keep the eyes closed and
deeply sense your body and mind.

Each vowel at every pitch has a different power.  Each person responds differently.
Let you voice be lower in pitch as you begin this tonal awareness.  Keep the same
pitch for most of the time your are toning. If you ever feel strain or stress, just stop
or thirty seconds, the begin again. If you feel it is just time to stop, then just stop.

At times an emotion or a memory may arise. You can choose to tone right through
that memory and allow it to be cleared away, or you may come to rest and know that
you will work with that feeling at a later time.  There is wisdom of the vowels in the
body, become aware of their power to charge, relax and heal.

9.  Tips & Tidbits:

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 8:  Touch Your Soul
A happy family, a meaningful career, enough money, good health, all these things are
important and enhance the quality of our lives...but they are not enough to create complete
fulfilment. Someone I know is living through the last stages of cancer and each time I
see her she seems more and more at peace with herself.  Another friend has inherited
a large amount of money and yet she often feels very depressed. When we look at our
lives we are often tempted to think that if only this would happen or I could meet that sort
of person or if something would change, then I could be really happy.  What price is
peace?  Where can we find it?  It is certainly not outside of ourselves and no one can
bring it to us.

Peace, contentment, fulfilment and harmony are felt by the spiritual part of our being. Soul
food cannot be bought at the supermarket. If the words "spiritual" and "soul" mean very
little to you, think about a time when you felt "touched" by something greater than yourself,
when the world became a shining place for a moment. Let's touch that shining essence
again.

EXERCISE: FINDING THE SOUL'S BREATH
1.  Sit in a comfortable and relaxed position in a quiet place. Close your eyes and relax.
2.  Put your right hand over your heart and say to yourself, "I breathe the soul's breath."
3.  Exhale and wait until your breath comes in by itself. Pause briefly as your breath
reaches its fullness and then let it go.
4.  Wait until your breath naturally comes to fill the space; as you do this you will feel that
the breath is coming to you rather than that you are doing something.
5.  When your breath is coming to you in this way you are consciously breathing the soul's
breath. As you breathe in this way continue to say to yourself, :I breathe the soul's breath."

When you do this exercise you will feel fabulous! What else is there to say?
