1. Interesting Reiki Stories:
Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki as a tool in healing. If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us, otherwise I will try to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web.
Reiki Helps at the Nursing Home My great aunt Hilda had been in a nursing home for quite a few years. She suffered from an auto-immune disease as well as a condition that dried out her mucous membranes: mouth, throat, nose, eyes. She was blind and in constant pain.
She loved horses and used to ride as a child. One day, I brought my saddle to her room. She ran her hands over it and over and over it, crying and laughing.
Later, when her condition worsened, I would place my hands on her head. Her pain would leave, and she would fall into a quiet sleep. Source
Just for Today, I Let Go of Anger Reiki has open my eyes in so many ways. The one true story I would like to share, I had so much anger stored up inside of me that when I would talk to people the words that came out were so harsh that I would hurt their feelings and not mean to. Once my chakras were cleared, I was able to release these bad feelings. With Reiki I am such an easier person to be around. I had no idea how nasty I could be. Reiki has helped me be a better person. -Sandy, Crystal Lake, IL
Help with Pain Relief For the past 11 months I had a wrist pain, tightness on my neck. I tried many different things and nothing seems to work for me. Client of mine suggest to me this Reiki healing. This has brought me back to life! I never thought it’s possible.- Tina Source

2. Requests for Long Distance Healing:
Requests for Long Distance Healing: When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki. Please consider printing out these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.
If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time.Remember if there are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki. One suggestion would be: When time permits-- send long distance Reiki for one specific request, then add that request to an on-going list or stack that receives unlimited Reiki.
Level I Practitioners: You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.
Request from Karen S. Please continue to send long distance reiki to my parents: John and Anna Kulasa, Michigan. They are in their 90’s and are having multiple health issues – kidney, gastro, heart, memory. I would appreciate any help in making them more comfortable. Thanks. Karen
This section will be updated as requests come in, if you have a request for Long Distance Reiki, email it to seedsforchange@comcast.net, title the request Long Distance Reiki

3. Q & A QUESTION: Can you review again how to assess the energy field of a person using scanning before starting a session?
ANSWER: You can scan the body using your two "sensitized" hands held about 1 - 3 inches above the body. Determine what it is that you want to respond to….stickiness in aura, hot spots, cold spots, etc., and move your hands slowly from the top of the head to the soles of the feet. Be aware of how your hands feel, and when they detect anything different (your intended "response") then remember the location(s) of these sensations.
As you are scanning the entire body, you may want to make a notation of what you felt and where it was felt. Administer Reiki. Once you have finished the session, go back and do another scan, now you are looking for an energy shift. In most cases there will be a positive change or release of the energy that was restricted or congested before the session. You can review this information with your client, which can open the door for further exploration on their part.
QUESTION: Is it better to work off or on the body while giving a Reiki session?
ANSWER: There is no best answer for this question for every situation. The best answer is determined by the wishes of the recipient and the preferences of the practitioner. There are times when the choice of working directly on or off the body may be more suited for a specific set of circumstances. I personally, prefer the "on the body hand positions", I find it so soothing and penetrating. When layers of the auric field are filled with energetic congestion, it may be best to administer Reiki off the body, in the layer of the aura where the congestion is felt, then moving down closer to the body as the layers balance themselves out.

7. Working with Others: Understanding Energy Sensations: As we are continue to work with Reiki, whether in self-treatment sessions or with others, we may experience a variety of sensations. Each situation and experience is unique. Each situation will hold it own message, awaiting interpretation from the recipient. The underlying message may hold deep meaning, signaling a readiness for release. At other times, it may be something very superficial and surface related, without binding ties to the past. Our ability to understand is critical, and it is why I refer to Reiki as the process of self discovery.
This understanding really can only come through personal experience. I can share what I have learned or come to understand from my vantage point, but it only becomes really meaningful, when you are working through and tackling your own encounters.
Below are some of the possible experiences and/or sensations, along with some very general interpretations. Remember this is your journey, and as long as you are holding the map, you are in the best position to comprehend the language of your travels.
Coldness: There is an energy blockage or a hole in the aura. There could be a negative thought form there, or a physical problem in the area.
Cold Winds Leaving: A negative thought form is leaving the aura.
Ache or Pain: Generally there is a physical problem in the area creating build-up of energy which the Reiki is helping to release. Scan to see if there is a hole in the aura as well, and deal with this first.
Dip in Energy: Sometimes you can feel the edge of the aura and suddenly the edge dips closer to the physical body. This shows a lack of energy in this area and that there is something causing an imbalance there. Give Reiki to the area.
Hole in the Aura: While tracing the edge of the aura it suddenly seems to disappear. If you find a lot of holes or very large ones, the person is very depleted and requires a lot of healing as well as lifestyle changes. They may have an addiction, eating disorder or psychiatric problem.
Cord: You may sense a cord in the aura. One way of sensing this is if the aura thickens into a rope-like shape. Cords are like leashes of energy, attaching the person to someone. Energy drains out from them and negative energy can flow in.
Tingling in Hands: If a place is especially tingly in your hands, healing is needed there, and there could be an inflammation or pain at the site.
Heat in Hands: Healing energy is needed at this site. Some healers always experience heat or tingling so you need to see whether it is more than usual.
Energy Being Sucked as if Magnetically: If you sense that energy is being pulled, as if magnetically, from your hands, or there is an irresistible pull to an area of the body, then healing is needed there.
Hands Being Pushed Away: This is a definite pushing away. There is an energy blockage in the area, which is resisting being worked on. Try working on the area later, or ask the recipient to tune into it and consciously ask the blockage to leave.
Energy Flowing From Hands: This shows the Reiki is flowing nicely, and indicates that the recipient is open and receptive to it.
Perspiring: You may start to perspire which shows that a lot of Reiki is coming through you and also that it is releasing your own blockages.
Feeling Ecstatic or Going Into Trance: Giving as well as receiving Reiki can be very pleasurable and spiritually uplifting. It can feel like a deep meditation or relaxed trance. You may also see colors, visions etc. Enjoy it, but remain aware and grounded.
Feeling Ill: Occasionally you may find that you feel ill while working on someone. It is possible that you have picked up on an imbalance in them, or perhaps the Reiki flowing through you has shifted your energies so that you are temporarily out of balance. Generally it is fine to continue if you feel sufficiently grounded and OK. The feeling will probably pass very quickly, showing that something unpleasant has shifted thanks to the Reiki. If you feel you need to stop the session early, work on the recipient's feet to ground them and finish off.
Seeing Something Shadowy: Usually this is seen with the peripheral vision. It is an energy form releasing from the recipient. Imagine white and gold light surrounding it coming down from above and silently ask your Guide, Angel or a higher being to release it to the light. Silently reassure the energy form that it is ok to go into the light. If there is a lot of resistance, ask your higher being to help it into the earth.
Seeing Light or Colors: Golden and white light around is a light being such as an angel helping the healing. Other bright, vivid colors are other light beings perhaps devas, they may be helping or simply curious. If you feel you're being helped, silently thank them. Otherwise just silently greet them and carry on. If the colors are dirty or dark see the above paragraph.
PRACTICE: As you engage in Reiki sessions during the month, begin to pay closer attention to what sensations you may be experiencing. After the session, write down in as much detail, what you can recall happening. Then try to determine the underlying meaning. Refer to the above information as a guide to possibilities, not as a definitive source of information. If working with another, go through the above process with the recipient. You may wish to ask some open-ended, thought provoking questions that will help them figure out a deeper meaning, if one exists.
The more you perform Reiki with the intention of learning about yourself as you give a self-treatment, the more expanded and spiritually aware you become of yourself in a multi-dimensional way.

9. Tips & Tidbits:
60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:
Suggestion 27: Spice Up Your Life Here is a fantastic technique which is practical and mind-expanding. You can do it anywhere and create an amazing experience for yourself. It's called "self-remembering" and introduces the concept of the "witness". How many "yous'" are there inside you? By lunchtime today I have been: happy/hungry/angry/thoughtful/serious/annoyed/tired/ energetic/humorous.
How may "yous" have you been today? We play many parts throughout our day and who "you" are changes at every moment. We can often let ourselves off the hook by lessening the power we give to these passing "you" states. Sometimes one "you" does something for which every other "you" must pay, maybe for the rest of your life. Our "yous" are numerous and are all evaluative and judgmental. Can you remember doing something for which you cannot forgive yourself?
When you use self-remembering you adopt the role of witness as you go about your everyday life. The witness observes all your doings but does not judge your actions in any way. For example, you may eat a cream cake and then get annoyed with yourself for eating it. However, the witness would dispassionately note:
1: She is eating a cream cake. 2. She is annoyed with herself for eating a cream cake.
If it feels hard to observe yourself in this way just imagine that you are standing outside of our body watching yourself (don't spend time analysing this method, just do it.) At first you will probably only remember to witness when you are feeling calm and uninvolved---it is easy to forget when you get hooked by your emotions.
Cultivate your witness and experience something quite different in your life. Calm self- observation displaces angry self-criticism and ordinary events take on a different dimension. Practising witnessing, forgetting to witness, and then remembering again can be great fun. It is an entirely private affair and it adds spice to the most mundane of tasks. Take your witness to the supermarket and have an ecstatic shopping experience!
