1. Interesting Reiki Stories: Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki as a tool in healing. If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us, otherwise I will try to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web
Reiki and a 2nd Degree Burn Submitted by Susan I think it is helpful to post our Reiki experiences so through the sharing process, others are inspired to continue to work often with the Reiki energy. On July 11 as I was planning on cooking a wonderful dinner for my family, the last thing on my mind was using this experience to post as an example of the healing power of Reiki!
Earlier in the day I was watching one of the cooking shows on HGTV and was inspired to make a piccata dish that was being shown. So around 4:30 I prepared some chicken cutlets then began to cook them in olive oil. Rather than using a pair of tongs to turn the meat, I was not to smartly using a small fork, and began to move and turn the chicken. As I added another piece to the hot pan about 1/2 of the oil splattered out and hit my right hand, covering an area from the tip of my little finger down to about 3 inches below my wrist. It was almost like I was watching this occur in very slow motion as it was happening.
I immediately immersed my hand under cold water, thinking this isn't that bad, I can do this for a few minutes then get back to my dinner. It didn't take too long for my body to catch up with my brain and suddenly there was to put it mildly, an explosion of pain. I have had kitchen burns before, but nothing like this...the depth of the burn was deeper and the area much larger. Fortunately I had enough sense not to panic. Calling my older daughter for help since the right hand was at this point, kind of useless, she got out a large clear plastic bowl for me that I filled with cold water, then added a few Arnica pellets into it, as well as taking a few internally. I knew I needed to Reiki the area, and I knew from prior experiences, when Reiki a burn, it initially hurts...I tried to place my good hand in the bowl of water and do Reiki but the heat was creating an even greater pain that I couldn't tolerate. I had my daughter get me a small 1/2 cubit Light Life Healing Ring which I placed in the water and then began to Reiki from underneath the bowl...Even doing this was excruciatingly painful so I only did it for short bursts of time, in about 30 second shots. As my hand was immersed in the water, the pain was manageable. I could tell the palm of my hand was pretty well burned because it was already beginning to blister. I could feel the wrist pain but couldn't see much there and the top of my little finger was pretty badly affected.
Thinking I can take care of this situation, I kept my hand in the bowl of water for about 1/2 hour, but any time I began to expose the hand to air, the pain jumped to high intensity levels. At this point I thought maybe I better have this seen by a doctor. Fortunately for me the doctor was not in and I reached his answering service who forwarded my message to the on-call doctor...thinking I might have to go to the emergency room, I was concerned I might need a referral from the doc since we have an HMO. While waiting for the doctor to return my call I decided, I am not going to the emergency room, I can heal this myself and that is exactly what I intend to do! Guess it was that stubborn Taurus nature coming to the surface. I removed my hand from the bowl, applied some Recuse Remedy Cream to the burns mixed with Aloe and got out my healing crystal. Using Reiki and this particular clear quartz crystal I knew I had to work to repair the etheric double,or first layer of the aura off the skin. In a counterclockwise motion I began to work up and down the arm and hand...as I did so I could feel the heat and pain releasing...The on-call doctor still hadn't gotten in touch with me, but at this point I said to my husband, I'm not going to the doctor, I am handling this myself. The pain had dramatically subsided and the burn area was looking better. After about 1/2 hour of working in the auric field, there was no pain and I could now bend my finger and wrist. I continued sporadically throughout the evening working on the area....and yes the on-call doc did get in touch, I explained what happened but also told him I now had it under control and the situation had turned around not requiring medical attention.
The following morning the area definitely showed the appearance of being burned but there was no pain and a small amount of blistering on the wrist and little finger. I sterilized a needle, put a pinhole into the blisters to release the fluid then applied more Rescue Remedy Cream and Aloe, followed by more Reiki. I am convinced this degree of healing would not have occurred if I had just decided to go immediately to the emergency room shortly after I burned myself.
Pictures: I have tried to take some photos but it is hard to take them yourself and with my simple camera to get the true picture of what I see..

2. Requests for Long Distance Healing: Requests for Long Distance Healing: When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki. Please consider printing out these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.
If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time.
Remember if there are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki. One suggestion would be: When time permits-- send long distance Reiki f or one specific request, then add that request to an on-going list or stack that receives unlimited Reiki.
Level I Practitioners: You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.
Requests: Submitted by Janet B I have 2 requests for long distance reiki for my daughter and my husband. Kristianna had a little girl on July 11th but is back in the hospital with post-partum pre-eclampsia (dangerously high blood pressure). Both the hospital and her home are in Maryland.
Also for my husband, Bill Bishop, Quakertown, who has a very large mediastinal adenocarcinoma under his breastbone. Radiation and chemotherapy have not worked so he needs surgery at Temple University Hospital. His surgery hasn’t been scheduled yet but should be within the next 3 weeks. He is becoming increasingly unwell every day. Many thanks to anyone who can send LDR to them.
Continued Requests: Submitted by Susan Long distance reiki and/or prayers are requested for the following individuals: Slim Spurling, Colorado, who was taken ill during a workshop in May in Virgina.
Jeff Frank, director of the Nature Lyceum in Long Island, NY, who is recovering from bypass surgery.
Bruce Saunders, Seekonk, MA, who is recovering from bypass surgery.
Thank you! Your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated.
Request: Submitted by Kellee Please send long distance reiki to a friend of mine, Michele Zimmerman , Doylestown she discovered a lump in her breast and does not know yet what it is.
This section will be updated as requests come in, if you have a request for Long Distance Reiki, email it to seedsforchange@comcast.net, title the request Long Distance Reiki

3. Q & A QUESTION: Is it normal to experience feeling emotional during or after a Reiki treatment?
ANSWER: One thing I have learned from working with the Reiki energy over the past years is that there doesn't seem to be a "normal" experience that I encounter regularly, unless I want to say at the end I feel very relaxed. So with that in mind I'll answer the question.
Frequently an individual who is receiving Reiki is coming for a treatment for a specific set of circumstances and not necessarily because they already feel great and want to continue to have that wonderful, tingly feeling all over. So along with the specific circumstances they are working on releasing, transforming, etc this is often coupled with emotional overlays...but that emotional overlay can be one that they are not even aware of. As the Reiki treatment progresses... as they begin to relax deeper,...as they begin to invite an intention of change...it is not uncommon for emotions that have been stuffed below the surface to want to come up for air...to be acknowledged...this can take the form of an emotional experience for the individual, showing up in any number of ways....gentle tears, enormous, releasing sobs, shaking or jerking, etc. This can occur during or after the session.
What is happening is that the person is moving into another space...one of change...to create harmony and inner balance. ..these responses are energetic releases which can be of a physical, mental or emotional nature. The most important thing to do is to allow it to happen and not stop the process...
I encourage those who have had a profound experience of some nature to continue to process the experience once they leave...to journal what happened and how they feel about what happened. This is a very powerful part of the healing process, often leading to greater insights. If done, devoting this extra attention can yield dramatic results that could have taken much longer to occur without the inner processing.

Keynote Speaker : Author William Henry "Mary Magdalene: The Illuminator"
Sunday, August 13, 2006 Time: 10am-12pm Advanced Tickets: $35
Could Mary Magdalene have been Jesus’ wife and the one who enlightened him?
With the popularity of the DaVinci Code, secrets handed down through the ages seem more immediate than ever. In this presentation we’ll discover the real secrets and the true history of Mary Magdalene, including the reasons why she was called the Illuminator or Illuminatrix (‘Enlightened One’) and why the Knights Templar were attacked by the Church of Rome.
For more than 20 years William Henry has sought these secrets. Now, he goes beyond “The Da Vinci Code” and “Holy Blood, Holy Grail” and pierces the veil of the secrets of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, revealing sensational new research from forbidden texts and teachings revealed in clues left in religious art and legend.
In this lavishly illustrated presentation, based upon his book The Illuminator: Mary Magdalene. Solomon’s Key. The Lost Secret of the Templar we’ll journey to the core of the mysteries of Mary Magdalene, including these topics:
The astonishing facts about the secret teachings of Jesus and Mary Magdalene and their connection to the Illumined Ones of the past.
The Gnostics and Cathars and their connection to Mary Magdalene.
The alchemical secrets of Mary Magdalene’s anointing oil and how it transformed Jesus.
Mary Magdalene’s connection to Ishtar, Isis and other ancient goddesses.
The reality of an extraterrestrial presence in the Bible and Gnostic Christian texts.
And much, much more.
Author, investigative mythologist and guest host of the popular radio show “Dreamland” William Henry is on a mission to reveal the lost codes of myth and symbols. He specializes in the gateway stories of the ancient past and modern world. His research encompasses parallel universes, stargates or wormholes, spiritual alchemy, and the secrets of light. His published works include:
The Illuminator: Mary Magdalene. Solomon’s Key. The Lost Secret of the Templars Cloak of the Illuminati: Secrets. Transformations. Crossing the Stargate

7. Working with Others:
Scanning Scanning is using the sensitivity in your hands/senses and your intuition to feel what is going on in an energy field, such as the aura. Practice, experience and trust help these sensations and intuitions become clearer. They may be almost imperceptable at first. Here is a list of some things you may sense.
Coldness: There is an energy blockage or a hole in the aura. There could be a negative thought form there, or a physical problem in the area.
Cold Winds Leaving: A negative thought form is leaving the aura.
Ache or Pain: Generally there is a physical problem in the area creating build-up of energy which the Reiki is helping to release. Scan to see if there is a hole in the aura as well, and deal with this first.
Dip in Energy: Sometimes you can feel the edge of the aura and suddenly the edge dips closer to the physical body. This shows a lack of energy in this area and that there is something causing an imbalance there. Give Reiki to the area.
Hole in The Aura: While tracing the edge of the aura it suddenly seems to disappear. If you find a lot of holes or very large ones, the person is very depleted and requires a lot of healing as well as lifestyle changes.
Cord: You may sense a cord in the aura. One way of sensing this is if the aura thickens into a rope-like shape. Cords are like leashes of energy, attaching the person to someone. Energy drains out from them and negative energy can flow in.
Tingling in Hands: If a place is especially tingly in your hands, healing is needed there, and there could be an inflammation or pain at the site.
Heat in Hands: Healing energy is needed at this site. Some healers always experience heat or tingling so you need to see whether it is more than usual.
Energy Being Sucked as if Magnetically: If you sense that energy is being pulled, as if magnetically, from your hands, or there is an irresistible pull to an area of the body, then healing is needed there.
Hands Being Pushed Away: This is a definite pushing away. There is an energy blockage in the area, which is resisting being worked on. Try working on the area later, or ask the recipient to tune into it and consciously ask the blockage to leave.
Energy Flowing From Hands: This shows the Reiki is flowing nicely, and indicates that the recipient is open and receptive to it.
Sweatiness: You may start to perspire which shows that a lot of Reiki is coming through you and also that it is releasing your own blockages.
Feeling Ecstatic or Going Into Trance: Giving as well as receiving Reiki can be very pleasurable and spiritually uplifting. It can feel like a deep meditation or relaxed trance. Enjoy it, but remain aware and grounded.
Feeling Ill: Occasionally you may find that you feel ill while working on someone. It is possible that you have picked up on an imbalance in them, or perhaps the Reiki flowing through you has shifted your energies so that you are temporarily out of balance. Generally it is fine to continue if you feel sufficiently grounded and OK. The feeling will probably pass very quickly, showing that something unpleasant has shifted thanks to the Reiki. If you feel you need to stop the session early, work on the recipient's feet to ground them and finish off.
Seeing Something Shadowy: Usually this is seen with the peripheral vision. It is an energy form releasing from the recipient. Imagine white and gold light surrounding it coming down from above and silently ask your Guide, Angel or a higher being to release it to the light. Silently reassure the energy form that it is ok to go into the light. If there is a lot of resistance, ask your higher being to help it into the earth.
Seeing light or colors: Golden and white light around is a light being such as an angel helping the healing. Other bright, vivid colours are other light beings perhaps devas, they may be helping or simply curious. If you feel you're being helped, silently thank them. Otherwise just silently greet them and carry on. If the colours are dirty or dark see the above paragraph.

9. Tips & Tidbits:
60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:
Suggestion 19: Achieve Your Goals Someone once said that if you get in a car and don't know where you are going you will drive around until you run out of petrol and never get there. If we have no goal how can we ever achieve any thing? To lead a rich and full life we need to be able to work hard towards something and then, as we find ourselves coming close to our achievement, to subtly move the goal posts and so ensure that we never actually score the goal. Have you ever done this? People who are only satisfied by perfection move their goal posts all the time and often find it hard to finish a project (it never seem to be quite good enough). Forget about being "good enough": let go of your very high standards and make your goals realistic, achievable and rewardable.
EXERCISE-ACHIEVING MY GOALS 1. Specify three short-term goals (achievable within three month): * ______________________________________________________________
* ______________________________________________________________
* ______________________________________________________________
2 Write down exactly what you will need to do to achieve each one: _______________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________
3. Focus on these goals and the action you will need to take to achieve them. Work toward the goals and don't change them as you get close to completion (no moving goal post).
4. Allow yourself to achieve your goal, however modest you think it is. And then mark the achievement with a reward to yourself.
The successful completion of short-term goals leads inevitably to the achievement of long-term goals as we gain confidence in our ability to make things happen. Make your goals real, write them down. Give yourself a time limit, deadlines can be great motivators. Reward yourself with a real prize. You will feel brilliant.
Next Month: Suggestion 20: Forgive Your Parents
