Reiki and Spiritual Development   (Story from www.reikiconnect.com)
I would like to share with you a story about how Reiki has changed my life. About seven
years ago I really started feeling restless. I was not particularly spiritual and I knew that
there must be something more to life then my everyday existence.

An astrologer friend of mine and I had a conversation, I shared with her that I wanted to
start helping people. She suggested that I take a Reiki Class. At the time I didn't know
what Reiki was. She said that it was a hands on healing system that used life-force energy.

On a whim I took my first Reiki I and Reiki II class, as soon as I was attuned to the Reiki
energy my hands became very hot. The Reiki energy began flowing very strongly through
my arms and out of my hands. During the class when I was practicing the hand positions
the student that I was working on said that the Reiki energy was very powerful with me, the
strongest he had ever seen. He also said that Reiki was something that I had a natural
talent for. At the time I didn't think too much about his remarks. The more I began using
the Reiki symbols the stronger that Reiki energy flowed through me.

As the weeks passed I became calmer inside myself. I also became a more sensitive man
to my other fellow human beings I started to become more open to my initiative guidance
and more aware of how things felt around me. I without knowing it was surrendering to the
Reiki energy.

Still further down my path I began to be guided by the Reiki energy on what to do. How to
respond to a confrontation, how to live in harmony with the other people in my life and
how to be {Still} and listen to what GOD was saying to me.

The change in me was gradual, I hardly was aware of the way Reiki had changed my life. I
became more confident, more empowered and more at peace within myself.

It wasn't until some years later that I met a friend of mine who I hadn't seen in a long time.
As we talked catching up on where we were in our lives he remarked to me that I was a lot
different then I was years ago. I asked him what he meant and he said that I was a lot
more caring, nurturing and understanding then he had remembered years ago. After our
conversation I thought about how I used to be how I got to where I am. I have grown over
the years spiritually and Reiki has been the path that has accomplished this for me.

By surrendering to the way of Reiki and letting the Reiki energy flow from me I have
become more spiritually aware, more spiritually sensitive and empathetic toward my fellow
man. Today when I teach a Reiki Class I encourage my students to be open to the Reiki
energy and let Reiki guide them to a better life.

Reiki for My Sick Cat   (Story from http://sonjasreiki.tripod.com)
"Today I gave a treatment to one of my cats who is very ill. She is at the point where I am
considering whether it is time to have her euthanized. After the treatment I put her back in
the cage. When I checked on her a little while later she had eaten more than she has in
days, and was drinking water, which she hasn't been doing."

Help from Reiki with Eczema (Story from http://www.reikikauai.com)
Nine months ago I took my First Degree Reiki training, three months later I completed the
Second Degree class.

Physical Changes:
My ASTHMA and ALLERGIES are improving. I was taking inhalers and pills daily for
asthma, a life long ailment for me. I'm now taking the inhalers occasionally and have had
periods of time where I had no BREATHING troubles.

My ALLERGIES are markedly decreased. I'm taking less allergy MEDICINE. I have always
been allergic to cats. I would not be able to even go to someone's house if they had cats. I
have moved into my sister's house, she has many cats. Although they live outside, they
are always around when I go outside. I am able to pet and play with them now without any
allergy symptoms. I had never "felt" a cat purr before Reiki and now I am able to do that. I
very much enjoy their company and companionship. Another allergy symptom that has
disappeared is my ECZEMA. I would have to put cortisone cream on the inside of my
ELBOWS, my FACE, my NECK. Now that has all cleared up. I notice that I HEAL QUICKLY.
Before First Degree Reiki, I would take a week or 10 days to heal a cut. Now they heal in 2
or 3 days. I'm eating healthier FOODS, less fat, less meat, more fruits and vegetables. I'm
EXERCISING more. My BLOOD PRESSURE was elevated because of STRESS in my life.
Now it is normal. I haven't had the usual winter COLDS and FLU. In fact I haven't been
sick all winter.

Emotional and Spiritual Changes:
A little over one year ago, my beloved husband died. He was in an accident and died
suddenly and totally unexpectedly. This was quite a traumatic event in my life. Needless to
say I had many, countless EMOTIONAL issues to deal with. About nine months later I
encountered Reiki. This is the area I have seen the most progress. The Reiki has helped
me to see things more CLEARLY and accept life's twists and turns. Many times having the
Reiki energy has guided me through the GRIEVING and DEPRESSION processes that I
have learned I must go through. I believe that I am able to move quickly and completely
through the difficult steps because I have the Reiki helping me. It is truly a "God force," a
loving energy, a guiding light..

Since the Reiki, I have had many GROWTH opportunities. The cats have shown me that I
still have a caring heart and that I can feel JOY and CONTENTMENT. The way was
opened for me to get started in my beading work, something I've wanted to do for a long
time. Just having the Reiki presence in our home has brightened, guided my children in
their lives as they deal with the many teenage issues they have.

Currently, I am experiencing more CLARITY and connectedness with the world. I seem to
understand nature things and people relationships at a different level than before. I seem
to be more connected with the spiritual world, although I can see that I have lots to learn.
I've made it through "my dark night of soul" and am starting to rebuild my life. I'm
becoming more aware and able to contribute to life. Thank you Reiki !!!

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:

Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time. Remember if there are
multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki.  One suggestion
would be:  When time permits--send long distance Reiki for one specific request,  then add that
request  to an on-going list or stack that receives unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

Request from Beth S
Please send long distance reiki to my sister-in-law Ellie Witters  in Lovingston ,VA.
She has 4th level breast cancer and requested long distance

Prayers for Transition from Susan
On Nov 12, our dear friend and teacher Slim Spurling passed.  Please send prayers
to his wife Katarina and to Slim that he may continue to assist us in the work of healing
the environment from where he is.

Request from Karen S.
Please put my parents on the LDR list:
John and Anna Kulasa, Michigan. They are in their 90’s and are having multiple health issues – kidney,
gastro, heart, memory.  I would appreciate any help in making them more comfortable. Thanks. Karen

Request from Pam FR
Please continue to send LDR for my  mum,  Doris Smith, of Perkasie suffers terribly with osteo-arthritis
and peripheral vascular disease, to the point where she cannot walk for the pain.

This section will be updated as requests come in, if you have a request for Long Distance
Reiki, email it to
seedsforchange@comcast.net, title the request Long Distance Reiki
3. Q & A

QUESTION:
Any suggestions for treating plants with Reiki?

ANSWER:
Plant life is equally as receptive and appreciative of Reiki energy, as all other life forms.
Generally, plants seem to take Reiki just like human beings and will often live longer than
average as a result.

One way of testing this is to take two plants of the same kind and keep them in identical
conditions.  Treat one with Reiki daily.  You should notice a considerable different
between the two in a short time.

Another thing is to Reiki the water that you are giving to the plants, which also boosts
the vibrational frequency.

It is a good idea to hold seeds between you hands for a few minutes before planting them.
Cut flowers can be treated by holding the vase and pot plants by holding the post to treat
the roots.  If you wish to treat plants outside, simply hold your hands over the soil,
directing the energy at the roots.  Trees can be treated by giving them a hug.

Long Distance healing is another option once you have taken your 2nd degree.  Be
adventurous and creative, you may be surprised at the results!

QUESTION:
Why is there a suggested waiting period between Reiki Level I and Level II?

ANSWER:
Although each person needs to make their own decision as to when they are ready to
move onto the next Level in Reiki, I recommend a waiting period of a few months
between 1st and 2nd Degree. This is to allow the body to adjust to the fine tuning that
occurs in the initiation which can result in an inner cleaning, on either a physical,
emotional/mental/spiritual level.  As the body begins to vibrate at a higher frequency, it
takes some time to adjust to this new energy.

Also it is helpful to have a variety of different experiences, that need time and practice to
accumulate...to have fun, to play around, to experiment with the Reiki energy in a number
of different situations.  As each situation occurs, you have a deeper connection
and understanding, that enhances the process at Level II.

Allow the Reiki to work with you and heal you, before moving onto the next degree.
Sometimes we can get so caught up in helping others, we forget our primary function is
self-healing, which through this process, when we become clearer, we can be more useful
to others seeking guidance.
4.  What's New?

New Center Location  158 Green Street, Silverdale, PA 18963
We are in full swing now at our new location, even though we have a few remaining details to add
into the decor...I like to think of it as a work in progress...but regardless, it is a warm, wonderfully
homey environment.  We hope you will get a chance to stop by for a class, workshop or session.
All hours are by appointment.

January Newsletter...will not be that in-depth...due to the holidays and other obligations
I have only had a limited number of hours to devote to the newsletter this
month..hard to believe it is entering its 7th year...my goal is to keep this up and running
until it reaches its 10th year and then retire it!  My new years resolution this year is to
limit the number of hours I put into my work so I can better balance my home and work
life..so in order to do this I will be limiting the number of offerings that go through our
office and reduce the amount of time devoted to the newsletters and website...so although
I will still be doing these each month, the amount of time devoted to research and writing
will be reduced, which in turn will reduce the content that is offered.

7.  Working with Others:

Sacred Symbols:
We often have symbols that enter into our lives in a varitey of ways...bringing messages..
here are some of the interpretations for Animal Symbolism.

Many cultures have traditionally used animals as symbolism. Native people often view
animals as teachers, as each represents a beneficial quality that can help strengthen and
educate a person. Once we understand each animal’s essence--the specific gifts and
strengths the creature represents--we can then incorporate a particular animal into a
ritual and ask its guidance. For further information see Animal Medicine Cards (Jamie
Sams and David Carsson, Bear and Company).

9.  Tips & Tidbits:

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 24:  Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the Negative
Thoughts are powerful things; whatever you put your attention to will grow. Imagine that
your mind is a garden. You can fill your mind with beautiful flowers or let it become
overgrown and out of control with weeds. We can't have two opposing thoughts at the
same time, so if you're holding a positive thought then there is no room for a negative
thought. Actively plant positive seeds in the garden of your minds and weed out any
negatives as soon as they appear. As soon as you are aware of a negative entering y our
mind, nip it in the bud. Then think of its opposite and form a good strong positive mental
picture; let this replace the negative. It may take a while to recognize your negatives, they
come in many disguises and you have been comfortable with them all your live, as you
actively plant positive seeds in your mind you will find it easier to recognize the negative
intruders.

EXERCISE: REPLACING NEGATIVES
1. If you feel angry think the biggest loving thought you can. There's not room for both
thoughts.

2.  If you feel rushed, stop, close your eyes and visualize a beautiful calm scene.

3.  If you feel like a loser repeat the affirimation: " I am a winner."

When we can fill our minds with beautiful thoughts our world becomes a beautiful place.

Next Month: Suggestion 25: Remember: Be Here Now

Personal Power
Author:  Suzanne Zoglio, PH.D.
Source
We all know it when we see it in others. A woman walks into a room radiating warmth,
strength and a positive energy. We are drawn to her, although she does nothing to draw
attention to herself. We are as curious about her as she seems to be about others. She is
engaging, but not dominating; joyous without pretension. She reflects a generosity of
spirit that accompanies a grateful heart. She is comfortable in her own skin; she is a
vessel of personal power.

We also know it when we feel it ourselves. The mornings when we awaken with an inner
knowing that all is well. Either life is proceeding exactly as we wish, or we know that we can
handle whatever life dishes out. The moments when we are tempted to prove we are right,
but veer onto a course of simply sharing our truth and accepting that others may not see
things through the same lens. The crossroads where we choose to pursue an uncertain
path of growth and passion instead of taking the more familiar one of comfort and
perceived security. The opportunities to serve that we embrace, although others might
see us as foolish and in need of some coaching in how to be more self-serving. We feel
calm,  focused, confident, and fully engaged.

We recognize it; we experience it. But, how do we develop more of it? Perhaps the
process is more of an unveiling than of an acquisition. By it’s very definition, personal
power comes from within. It is not a “role” or legitimate power bestowed upon us by others
when we assume a certain position – Department Manager, CEO, or even Head of the
Household. It is not “cultural” power that we assume at birth or ritually earn – Prince
Charles, a Philly gang leader, or the first-born son of a Chinese couple. It is not “affiliate”
power of knowing and networking with the right people within the right circle. It is not even
“intellectual” power, because a genius is labeled such by others.

Personal power comes from the inside out, and therefore need not be given, earned,
learned, or bestowed upon us. It simply must be revealed. Like a brilliant diamond residing
within a lump of coal, our personal power needs only to be released. Through prayer and
meditation, we can buff away the fears that make us weak, defensive and self-centered.
By embracing life’s joys and practicing rituals of gratitude, we soon glow with contentment.
And if we commit to using our gifts in the service of others, all of our facets seem to catch
the light. We do not need to prove how smart, important, or talented we are. We simply
know it. And others see it. Fearless, joyful, and making a difference, our personal power
surfaces.
