1.  Interesting Reiki Stories:
Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki as a tool
in healing.  If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us, otherwise I will try
to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web...

Reiki and Arthritis:     Source:  www.reikiconnect.com/reiki-ar.htm
Gladys came to our summer solstice celebration. She had never had a Reiki treatment. After just a 15
minutes session, she was impressed about how much calmer and more organized her body and
mind had become. She came back the following week for a full Reiki treatment and to talk to me about
herbs. She told me about her arthritis in her shoulders. So, I applied Reiki on those areas and
removed the pain and stiffness. When she was ready to leave, she could put her hands on top of her
head with no suffering. When she returned the following week, she remarked that the pain stayed
away for at least 3 days. This time I used Reiki on her knees as well as her shoulders, removing pain
and stiffness from both areas.  - Ken Gray, Reiki Master Teacher

Frank's Experience   Source:   www.reikihugo.nl/verhaal_frank.htm
I got my first attunement yesterday, and I didn't feel anything. I was kind of disappointed. However after
our attunements we had to partner up, and I happened to partner up with a master and we practised
using reiki for about 5 minutes by just putting our hands on their shoulders. When he did it to me, I felt
an incredible warmth from my neck to my waist. I even felt like I was starting to sweat. It was really a
cool experience. When we were done, the pain in my back and shoulders that I have had for over a
month was temporarily gone. This is the first experience I felt with reiki. The day after my attunement, I
got a pretty bad migraine. I left church early to come home and rest. I lost my peripheral vision on my
left side and I tried to eat, but I almost threw it up. Once my vision got better I took a ride over to the
monestary where I got my attunement done. I found the brother and the father that gave me the
attunement. They took me back into there healing room and did some accupressure, craniosacral
stuff, and some reiki. They told me a lot about myself that was true sort of like they were psychiatrists.
They told me this was a detox headache. They said that the day of my attunement my shoulders and
neck were very tight and blocking the energy from my head but now they were relaxed and all the
energy rushed to my head. They told me that I seemed mentally tired and I needed a day just to rest.
He put some kind of ointment on my temples and back of my neck. He didn't tell me what it was for, but
it smelled really good. After the session, I felt a lot better. My migraine was just a headache now and
they said I would have to let this one run it's course. I am glad I went back over to see them. They were
at a picnic, but they were happy to leave and help me. Over all it was a good experience.  I hope to do
reiki II real soon.

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:
Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time.

Remember if there are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long
distance Reiki.  One suggestion would be:  When time permits-- send long distance Reiki f
or one specific request,  then add that request  to an on-going list or stack that receives
unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

Request from Susan:
Please include Slim Spurling on your long distance Reiki and prayer list.  I attended a workshop
in Virginia at the beginning of May that Slim was teaching at and on Sunday morning he passed
out and was taken by the rescue squad to the University of VA Hospital.  Slim is still in ICU and is
in an unconscious state.  He is the developer of the Light Life Healing Technology tools that have
benefited many in personal and environmental healings and clearings.  His work is known throughout
the world and in the US he is one of the most prominently known individuals working in the area
of geopathic stress remediation.

Request from Steve G:
I'd like to ask for your prayers for a young - fourteen-year-old - member of my church who was struck by
a car tonight.  His name is Jason Caporale, Bensalem, PA and the prognosis is anywhere between
imminent death and a black eye. I'm praying for a black eye, but he's in ICU as I write this.  PLEASE
add your prayers to all of ours.

Requests from May are posted below because of the delay due to computer difficulties in getting
last month's edition out:

Follow-Up:  From Pam F-R
Dear Susan.
A while ago I had requested LDR for Peter in Hertfordshire, UK. I am pleased to announce that there
are no cancerous tumors in the brain, no brain lesions and he is doing extremely well except that we
discover that he has early onset alzheimers. You would not believe the differnece when speaking with
him on the 'phone. he is my mum's brother and she couldn't be happier for the positive change in his
memory and understanding and communication skills. THANK YOU ALL.

Lily from Cambridgeshire, UK. I had requested LDR for oesophageal cancer. Although the cancer will
not go away, I want to thank all who sent LDR as she is coping with her disease very philosophically.
May we continue to send LDR that she does not suffer.  Thanks

Continued Request and Follow-Up  From Janet B
I have a long distance reiki request for my husband who was diagnosed with cancer on February 14th.
Bill has a very large cancerous tumor growing underneath his breastbone which has pushed his
lungs, heart, esophagus, trachea and several blood vessels way out of position.  His oncologist and
radiologist disagree about the type of tumor and numerous tests have been unable to pinpoint its
origin.  He has had radiation and is currently having chemotherapy.  He is still trying to work but is
finding it harder and harder to keep up.  He is exhausted, nauseous, upset, depressed and has some
trouble with side effects from various medications.  In general, he is not very receptive to reiki but I
would really appreciate anyone willing to try to send to him long distance.

Bill has been on our request list from previous months.

Follow-Up From Beth S:
Just to let you know our dear friend who suffered from prostrate cancer, died peacefully with his family
surrounding him. His last weeks at home where peaceful with the hospice nurses caring for him and
managing his pain.  We are going to his funeral in Richmond this week.

This section will be updated as requests come in, if you have a request for Long Distance Reiki,
email it to
seedsforchange@comcast.net, title the request Long Distance Reiki
3. Q & A

QUESTION:
Are psychic abilities part of Reiki?

ANSWER:
My answer to that question would be yes and no. With each Reiki attunement and as you work on
yourself and others giving the gift of Reiki, an increase in personal vibrational rate occurs.  As the
vibrational rate increases it helps to lift that veil that we construct over our lifetime that inhibits our
ability to tap into information.  My personal experience has been the clearer I remain as the channel,
assuming the role of the detached observer, the greater the influx of psychic information.  The harder
we try to create these experiences, the more they allude us.

Film: The Peaceful Warrior
I have not actually seen this film yet, but I had read the book by Dan Millman years ago and loved it.
Those I've talked with who have had the opportunity to see it also have loved it.  It will be in Blockbuster
at the end of June.  Below is a synposis of the film for those who are not familiar:

Synopsis:
Arrogant, talented Dan Millman seems to have the perfect college life: a stunning gymnast's body of
incredible strength, handsome looks, good grades, plenty of money and a shot at the Olympic
qualifiers in men's gymnastics. Still, Dan wakes up almost nightly from terrifying nightmares and odd
visions he can't explain or dismiss. One night, awakened by yet another nightmare, Dan goes for a run
through his foggy neighborhood and comes upon a well-lit service station. Behind the counter, an old
man seemingly moves without regard for space or time. One moment, Dan is paying for his snacks,
the next the old man is on the roof of the station. Stunned by the impossibility, Dan begs the old man,
whom he instinctually names Socrates, to share the secret of his abilities in order to achieve his goal
of Olympic Gold. The old man puts him through a regimen that changes his diet, training, and lifestyle.
Before long, his life is ruined, and he loses his friends, his girls, and is almost thrown off his
Gymnastics squad. Thus begins a journey of discovery for Dan that will shatter every preconceived
notion he has about academics, athletics, and achievement, Guided by Socrates, Dan will consider a
whole new ideology--one that values consciousness over intelligence, strength in spirit over strength
in body. But in order to succeed, Dan must somehow let go of all of his expectations--and simply live in
the now.

Four Steps to Creative Healing       Author:  Laura Turner   Source
Ever have the feeling that dis-ease is controlling your life? Perhaps it's not even a chronic illness. Do
you harbor anger? Resentment? Frustration?

Maybe it's just me and I'm talking to myself, but I've let all of these rule my life at some point. I suppose
that's why I had a complete epiphany this week after listening to the audio lecture program “Why
People Don’t Heal” By Carolyn Myss. Therefore, for this weeks offering, I thought we'd take a look at the
work of Ms. Myss and the important insight it gives us. Coupled with my own (ever expanding) view of
health and wellness vs. dis-ease, I give you: "Four Creative Steps To Healing." From it, I hope you'll
gain insight into yourself, your behaviors and perhaps the way you deposit or withdraw from your own
health currency.

Step One: Understand Your Energy
We've all heard about the aura that surrounds the body, but what could this possibly have to do with
our health? According to Myss, in her experience, the energetic exchange that happens within this field
is where our thoughts become translated into energy (or what she terms as one's biography
becoming their biology). Translation: These cycles or waves of energy that surround our body are a
function of our thoughts. Thoughts are energy waves then, that affect our health in a positive or
negative way. Let's look a little closer to see why this happens:

The contributors to this energy surrounding the body are the 7 major "chakras" (chakra in Sanskrit
means "wheel or vortex"). It may help to note that Myss refers to each energy wheel as a "computer,"
one which collects and interprets information and “perceptions” the mind has about the world. It has
been shown scientifically that each of these 7 wheels of energy corresponds to a particular endocrine
gland in the body. Translation: In light of the adage, "you are what you eat" we could conclude with with
some degree of certainty that "you are what you think."

Step Two: Let Go Of Old Wounds
Now that you've been (hopefully) examining your thoughts and translating all of your negative energy
into positive, Myss throws another curve ball. Would you agree with her that "healing is unattractive?" I
needed some time to think about this: Why in the world would healing unattractive?

Answer (According to Myss): Our wounds give us power! And after careful contemplation, I've outlined
three ways I have done this, myself.

Ask yourself: Are you leading with your wounds? You'll know if you done any of the following:

1. Used Wounds to Manipulate a Situation or a Person.
Let's say we find a situation unsavory, scary or inflaming a personal "hot button." Have you ever
avoided a situation when you really needed to face head on? Or, how 'bout this one: "I just can't get into
this relationship - I've been burned before!" Okay, maybe I am just speaking to myself here, but I admit,
I've used my wounds (more times than I care to admit) to refrain from loving unconditionally.

2. Use Them to Attract Other Wounded Souls Who Want to Exchange in the “Wound” Game.
I’ve done this myself, too. In listening to another share their wounds, I’ve given up compassion for
wound ante – “Ill see you and raise you one.” Agreed, there is a difference between healing from a
wound and “leading with a wound" but, in my humble opinion, I'd be willing to bet that we know the
difference between being healthy and not. For example, I know when I’m healthy when I can listen with
empathy, void of getting out my toolbox to “fix" or laying out my wounds unsolicited.

3. Give Up Our Ability to Listen.
Dr. Bernie Siegel in his book "Peace, Love and Healing" basically says, listening is the work of angels.
Many times listening is all we have in a situation when someone calls on us for help. If we express
what Ms. Myss calls "woundology" or "leading with our wounds" we're saying that we can’t stand the
loss of power and desire all the attention for ourself.

Since I'm laying out all my laundry here today (And what would Myss have to say for this?) here’s an
example of the way I’ve led with my wounds: Recently someone confided in me about a situation
where they had lost a loved one. While listening attentively, my mind searched its experiences for a
similar event. All this so I could say: “Oh that’s terrible! Don’t feel so bad though, because I’ve been
through this thing that is so much worse!"

To reclaim my character, however, (and after I realized what was happening), I caught myself. In reality,
all this person really needed was my ear to listen unconditionally.

Step Three: Learn To Forgive Yourself and Others
The final two steps are remedies which can help heal our anger, resentment and frustration. Step
three then, is simply forgiveness. For to forgive in earnest then takes our energy out of its emotional
investment in the past. We give up the need to spend wasted energy making negative deposits into
this account and to paraphrase Myss, is the fastest way to bring our energy into real time. Translation:
Trust me, you'll know authentic forgiveness when you experience it. The body literally “lets go” of the
weight of the past.

Step Four: Love Yourself
The final creative step to healing? Loving yourself, of course! This is the most challenging concept, in
my opinion. Why? To begin we must start where we are, and love and accept ourselves for who we
are, today. How does this help our health? It's simple,
when we realize that we are stunting our personal growth and health through negative self talk, we can
then begin to love ourselves one piece at a time.

Here’s how it’s done (Author's note: beware, this practice may seem untraditional yet, if you'll consult
Louise L. Hay's book: "You Can Heal Your Life" - you'll find that this is one of the remedies she used to
heal herself from cancer):

Every day spend 15 minutes in the mirror sending love to yourself! Start small by finding one part of
yourself where you can find perfection. Each day, or week, or month choose new parts of yourself to
love. Before long, you'll find an image of perfection before your eyes. And you'll have purified your
energy, to boot!

In closing, we could make all of these steps very simple, indeed. For there is only one step here that
will make you healthy and happy. Remember: It's when we've learned to love ourselves that we can
truly be healed.

9.  Tips & Tidbits:

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 17:  Laugh Yourself Silly
How do you feel when you have had a really good laugh?  You feel great, don't you? Laughing and
smiling actually have amazing health giving effects.

- As you laugh you exercise your belly area and diaphragm.

- This abdominal movement deepens your breathing, which increase the oxygen flow into your body
and improves your circulation.

- Laughing expands blood vessels, which encourages tissue healing.

- Smiling and laughing stimulates the production of endorphins, your body's natural painkillers, which
produces a natural high.

- When you laugh you are helping your lymphatic system to get rid of bodily wastes, you burn off fat
and relax your muscles.

- "Laughter is the best medicine." You can't have a really good laugh and be anxious and stressed at
the same time.

- When you see the funny side of life you are more able to put things in perspective. It's easier to ask
yourself if your problem really matters that much.

What incredible benefits! However fed up you feel it surely is worth trying to find something to laugh
about. Start with a smile; a smile can start to change your mood.  Seek out something that has made
you laugh in the past-- a video, a book, the company of a certain friend, an activity...

Put a smile on your face and go for laughter, it can only make you feel 100% better.
