1. Interesting Reiki Stories:
Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki as a tool in healing. If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us, otherwise I will try to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web.
Pet Healing with Reiki Story from Reiki.org I am so grateful to be able to share Reiki with those around me. My youngest daughter became so interested as she observed the effect Reiki had on me that she began to request that I read my Reiki books to her at night. At age eleven now, she has been attuned to Level II. We have woven Reiki into all aspects of our day and are blessed by it.
We found an injured cat recently and brought it to the vet clinic. She had lost most of an ear and had an open wound down her entire left side, about two inches wide. Remarkably, there was no infection. She was glad to have attention and was responsive. We named her Hope. Two days past before it hit me, duh-h-h-h as my kid’s say- use Reiki. With only a ten-minute session that evening, the next day the exposed tissue had turned from a dark red color to light pink. With just a few minutes each day her healing intensified. The wound was so responsive to Reiki. Within twelve hours after a mini-session the healing was visible to the eye. I am continuously reminded of the gift that Reiki is for our lives. Many blessings to you all....—Gaywynn Gaude'
Burn Healed Story from Reiki.org One morning I was making myself a cup of tea and while pouring the hot water into the cup, I accidentally poured the boiling water over my hand! In agony, I ran it under cold water, then grabbed ice from the freezer and held it onto my hand while doing Reiki on it. I had to repeat the ice and then continued with the Reiki for about 15-20 minutes while having a phone conversation. When I hung up I looked at my hand and saw that there was absolutely no sign of a burn! Nothing! I was so very grateful because years ago I had a similar accident and had to spend the night with my hand in an ice bucket and went through all the blistering etc. that goes with such a burn. I seem to have success with "right away" Reiki. I have staved off several nasty bruises and a very painful banged knee by applying Reiki immediately to the injured area! —Tony

2. Requests for Long Distance Healing:
Requests for Long Distance Healing: When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki. Please consider printing out these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.
If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time. Remember if there are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki. One suggestion would be: When time permits-- send long distance Reiki for one specific request, then add that request to an on-going list or stack that receives unlimited Reiki.
Level I Practitioners: You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.
Prayers for Transition from Susan For my aunt Marion Rishkofski, Hilltown, PA who left us on Monday, May 19. Also please include my uncle Stan, her husband, as well as their children on your prayer list, to help them through this difficult time. Thank you for your assistance in their time of need.
LDR for Philip Dezzi, NC from Susan Please send long distance reiki and/or prayers to my cousin Philip, who is recovering from thyroid surgery after cancer was discovered. He has been having complications from the surgery. He also has been challenged the past few years with a number of different health issues, and sending any assistance in the form of your blessings and positive thoughts, will do him a world of good. Much gratitude and thanks to all.
Request from Karen S. Please continue to send long distance reiki to my parents: John and Anna Kulasa, Michigan. They are in their 90’s and are having multiple health issues – kidney, gastro, heart, memory. I would appreciate any help in making them more comfortable. Thanks. Karen

3. Q & A
QUESTION: How do you work with animals giving Reikii?
ANSWER: This answer is from Dummies.com Animals, like people, benefit from Reiki. Whether you have cats, dogs, birds, fish, ferrets, horses, or other larger animals, you can use Reiki to help your pets.
Any animal that receives regular grooming from a human is probably receptive to being touched for Reiki. If you want to give Reiki to an animal who is not usually touched, such as fish or wild animals, use techniques where you give Reiki from afar, such as beaming and distant Reiki.
Knowing when and where to go for Reiki Reiki works well with animals for the same reasons it works well on children and people of all ages. Have you ever noticed that when you pet an animal, he rolls over to receive more or looks at you with lovey-dovey eyes or sighs?
Animals respond to your loving touch and intention. Reiki is another way to help your animals feel better.
You can give Reiki to animals in the following situations: When they are ill: Reiki helps the healing process and works with any type of medical intervention.
When they are young or old: You can use Reiki on an animal of any age or situation.
When they have been through a trauma: Animals can use loving energy after they've experienced any type of abuse, loss, or move, or if they seem to exhibit depression or other behavioral disorder. Even if you don't know what the problem is, you can use Reiki to help.
Finding the right pet practitioner If your pet can travel, you can take him to a Reiki clinic. You may find that a pet trainer, pet groomer, or breeder also offers Reiki services. Here are some suggestions for finding a Reiki practitioner for your animal friend:
Any Reiki practitioner can give Reiki to your pet, although some practitioners specialize in giving Reiki to animals.
Animal lovers who work as animal handlers or in veterinarian's offices are taking Reiki training so they can use Reiki in their work. Some Reiki practitioners specialize in treating animals or even a particular type of animal.
In some cities, you may find Reiki clinics for pets! Obviously, you need to have an animal who can travel and behave among other animals.
You can learn Reiki yourself so you can help your animals.
Listening to animals Animals differ in their responsiveness to Reiki depending on their illness, personality, and how well they know you. Here's how you can read an animal to determine how to administer Reiki:
An animal may screech, fly, growl, hiss, or run away as a way of telling you it doesn't want to be touched. In that case, you can use distant Reiki or beaming techniques.
An animal may let you perform hands-on Reiki but then shift positions or look at you funny. Move your hands a few inches above the body and continue Reiki, if you feel that it's still needed.
An animal may tell you it wants Reiki by coming near you when you are giving Reiki to yourself or someone else.
If you're lucky, an animal will move itself so you can give Reiki exactly where it's needed.
Using different techniques If you feel comfortable or get an intuitive message to get closer to an animal, you can then try performing Reiki with your hands hovering above the pet. You can eventually move into an actual hands-on session.
Adapt the techniques used for humans to animals. Because animals can't give their express permission for you to perform Reiki, make sure you approach any animal in a slow and respectful manner when starting to give Reiki. Doing so gives the animal the opportunity to understand what you are doing and lets the animal make his feelings known.
You may want to start by beaming Reiki to the animal from across the room or sending distant Reiki. These techniques may be sufficient for treating an animal.
Intention is the single most important factor in the success of a Reiki treatment. Intend or pray for the highest level of healing for the animal and that you be a pure channel of Reiki energy. Healing is not from you, but through you. Be clear about your role as a Reiki healer and why you are treating the animal.
Here are the general techniques to use on animals:
Distant Reiki: This type of Reiki can be performed from anywhere, so you don't need to be near the animal to do this. You can use this technique to treat any trauma an animal might have suffered in the past or to help the animal with any event in the future.
Beaming Reiki from across the room: When you are with the animal, start with beaming to connect with the animal from a safe distance. You and Rover then get a chance to connect with each other before moving closer.
Reiki with hands hovering over the body: Some pets tolerate this type of Reiki for a longer period of time than hands-on Reiki.
Hands-on Reiki: Adapt the standard hand positions for humans to your pet. Some animals are much smaller, but the basic idea of anatomy is the same.
Group Reiki: For larger animals, especially horses or large dogs, a few people can perform Reiki simultaneously, sending much love and healing at once.
Giving Reiki to a sick animal helps the human companions of animals as much as it helps the animals themselves.
As is the case for humans, Reiki healing sometimes leads to a curing of an animal's illness, but it may also lead to a peaceful death. Reiki doesn't change the natural order of events, but it enhances the experience by giving a dose of love.
QUESTION: Can you recommend some resources for working with animals giving reiki?
ANSWER: I am not a pet expert and really only have experience giving my cat Moe Reiki, but here are some sites I have found related to animals. http://hallsofreiki.com/animals.html Article on giving pets reiki http://www.reikiforcritters.com/Sampleofbook.pdf Section of a book for treating animals http://www.circle-of-light.com/Calidad/chakras.html Animal Chakras

7. Working with Others: Cutting the Cords Ceremony Source
Cord cutting requires a certain amount of energy and is not passive, therefore, it is best done when you are well rested, and relaxed. While being active, (as opposed to asking God to do this for you) it is also quite intentional, so being firm in your intent to let go is important. You don't have to enjoy letting go, you just have to be intent on letting go, knowing that this needs to happen for the good of all. Sometimes it is not easy letting go, and we want to hold on, but as Sting says in one of his songs, "If you Love someone set them free"
As an aside for healers, we are not here to allow others to suck off of us, and every once in a while we will come in contact with someone who wants to do just that. One of the things that a healer does is help hold the balance while someone is going through the process of a healing work. Part of our work as healers is to help in this, and then as soon as possible help the person to build their own resources of healing.
That is one of the things I like about using essential oils and natural supplements. People can learn and become their own healers. So doing cord cutting can be real important for healers, to break attachments that our clients have formed with us. Even if the relationship continues, both healer and client need for the relationship to evolve.
It is best to do it at a time when you can be alone and are assured of not being interrupted. Have yourself in a prayerful meditative state and well grounded. Diffusing oils such as the blend Three Wise Men or Frankincense, or Sacred Mountain would be good. Other essential oils would be Spruce, Cedarwood, Sage, Lavender.
Also applying oils would be good. I have found that using essential oils can make the process easier, and more complete. There are 3 oils that are real specific for every situation. They are Valor, (on the feet) Release (on the feet) Acceptance on the Liver. If you don't have these, you might use Lavender on the feet, Geranium on the feet, and Lemon on the liver. We process every emotion and particularly anger through the Liver, and often through the emotional heart as well.
Some good oils for the heart area might be Into the Future, Hope, Joy, Rose, Lavender. Also Forgiveness is quite good on the navel area for relationships where there is "unfinished business" which almost all relationships have some. Melissa, Frankincense and Ravensara can be used here as well.
The energetic streams by which we are attached to others, can run throughout all of our energetic body. Your energetic body surrounds you and even goes into the earth as well as above your head. Cutting cords is a little like pulling weeds. Just as in pulling weeds, you have to get all the root out, this is true also with cutting cords. Another strong aspect of cutting cords is visualization, and also breathing, taking long full breaths, and strong exhalations, releasing as you exhale.
I have done a lot of cord cuttings myself, and have facilitated others doing it, as well as doing it in some of the workshops I have led. It is not uncommon to feel all sorts of emotions while doing this. It is important to not hold back on the emotions, as emotions hold and carry energy and allowing the emotions out is part of the process.
When I have done this in workshops with others, energetically what it looks like to me is that the energy streams are like stalks, and often the emotions look like balls of energy or almost like flowers, which are being fed by the energy. If I tap in, in a very focused way, I can see the roots going down below the person, as well as above the person.
Relationships that have had a lot of energy connected with them, (as opposed to relationships that are more casual or intellectual in nature), sometimes remind me of great big sunflowers, often sort of run amok. It is often like viewing something that is multi-screened. With energy piled upon energy. If you have ever felt when coming in contact with someone who seems that their energy is wild, this is part of it.
People who often have a lot of emotional and energetic toxicity, their energy sometimes looks like a garden run amok with spikes streaming out. It is possible sometimes to separate out the different energetic streams, but often with families where there has been a lot of stress, it is amazing they will be all intertwined. It is not necessary to see this as you are doing it, and I don't always see it myself. I only tap in if the person seems to need help.
If you want music, that is fine, but it is best to save the music for afterwards, when you might just simply want to relax and enjoy the feeling of peace. If playing music before helps you to get into it, that is fine, but playing during, for some might be distracting.
You can change this according to fit your own particular spiritual beliefs. While standing, allow yourself to become centered and grounded, feeling your connection to the earth. (The earth is a sentient being as well as we are, and we actually live within the aura of the earth, and have a connection to the earth. This helps us to not be spacey. )
You might want to start by calling out loud upon God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, your spiritual guides, or saints, angels etc, to help you with this process. You can also ask to have your Higher Self as well. Allow yourself a few minutes to feel the energies you are calling upon, to feel your lower chakras being grounded in the earth and your top four chakras opening and receiving the sustaining assisting energies of those you have invited and asked for help.
Archangel Michael has been particularly associated with Cord Cutting, and when you are ready Invite Archangel Michael to assist you in the process of cord cutting. The beings you have called on will be lending energy in this ceremony, but it is you who has to cut the cords.
No one will do this for you, the beings will help in clearing the energy from your fields, but you must start the process. While continuing to stand hold your arms out and ask Archangel Michael if you can borrow his sword. Allow yourself to really experience taking this sword that for time beyond time has stood and fought darkness and cut through illusion. We may not realize it, but often we have illusions about relationships, and our own perceptions about who we think we are and who we think the other person is.
Doing this work, will help you to cut through this, and begin to have a new outlook. Even if you are not able to feel anything trust that this process is happening. Begin to say out loud I now cut and release the cords of this relationship (say the name), and while you are saying this begin to move your arms as if you were holding a sword and cut all around you. You want to cut all around your body, remembering to cut above you and send intent, and or visualize the sword going below you to cut the roots of the relationship.
If you can visualize you might also pull up the roots and pluck them out of your field while continuing to cut with the sword. You can see the energetic streams dissolving as cut and pull them from you. You may find as you do this that some bundles may be more concentrated in the navel, or heart area.
Sexual relationships may be concentrated more in the lower chakras, while relationships that made your stomach churn maybe more in the solar plexus area. Relationships that seem to mentally tax you may be more in the top three chakras. Relationships that have been more joyful, generally are more diffused throughout the whole energetic field, they still need to be cut to allow for new growth.
In some ways you are tending your energetic relationship garden, and things have to be cut to allow for energy for new growth. Continue to say the name of the person whom you are cutting cords as you do this. When you feel you are finished with that person, relationship, pause and let yourself feel it, and scan, get your sense of whether or not you think you are done with this particular relationship, then go on to others.
It is best not to overtire yourself and only do a few relationships in one cord cutting ceremony. Start with the ones that are most foreground for you, of the ones that seem to occupy your mind and heart the most. This could be someone from your past. Those who have experienced abuse, who have been attacked, raped, mugged, etc, start with that one first, even if you don't know the name, say "the person who stole my purse and knocked me down, and give the date). For some, you may also need to say goodbye, I release and let you go. (remember to say their name or give explanation of the relationship)
When you feel you have done enough for this session, pause and breathe for a minute or so, and ask for the Violet Light, the Golden Light, The Highest Divine Light, the Light of God, or the Holy Spirit, (all or whatever works for you) to move around you, through you, above and below you, filling each aspect of yourself with the Highest Light and Love. Allow your heart to really open and feel your connection to yourself and the Divine. In doing this ceremony you have created a void, by calling in the Divine and more of your higher Self, you bring in what you need to go forth and have the relationships you want to have.
While you are bringing in and receiving the Highest Light and more of your Higher Self, you can begin to allow yourself to fill up with gratitude and start thanking those who have helped you in this ceremony.
If possible, now is a good time for you to simply relax, and rest. You might even want to take a nap. You might even want to mist your aura, with a blend like Joy, or Harmony, or even Lavender, Spruce, Sage. You may feel hungry, or drained, or simply peaceful. Even though you have done the ceremony, the work is still going on, as the work ripples outwards and the energy streams are dissolved as they go back to the time, person and relationship.
You want to also clear out the area where you have done the work. You can once again ask those you have called on to help you in this. You can also call in the streams of energy such as the violet light and the Golden White Light. This would be a good time to also diffuse Sage, as well as Lavender, Purification.
With relationships that are ongoing, such as with children and spouses, bosses, parents, you might want to do this a couple of times a year. You may find also with old relationships, that something new about them as come up for you, that represents another aspect and or energy stream that you weren't aware of before that also needs to clear out.
Generally speaking, I don't recommend doing a Cutting Cords ceremony more than once a month. We need time to process, assimilate the work we have done. Cutting Cords is a cleansing and clearing ceremony. Respect the work you have done, honor yourself, and the work, and allow time for yourself to have new perspectives.

9. Tips & Tidbits:
60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:
Suggestion 29: Replace "Should" with "Could" Write down all the things that you should do: I should: __________________________________________
Give yourself a time limit here or you could be at it for hours.
Examples: I should read a lot more. I should love my mother. I should be more positive. I should be nicer to people. I should lose weight. I should get up earlier in the morning.
Now take each "I should" from your list, read it out loud and then ask yourself, "Why should I?" Speaking out loud to yourself in this way makes the technique more effective. Voicing your feelings can help your understanding. Write down your answers. You may be surprised by what you have written.
Examples: Because people won't like me any more. My father said I should. What will happen to me if I don't? Because everybody has to. Because I'm too lazy.
The answers to "Why should I?" questions show us how we can limit ourselves by holding certain beliefs. Try ending an "I should" statement with "because I really want to". The sentence doesn't make sense because the word "should" implies reluctance. Its use also indicates feelings of guilt and fear. Do we really need to burden ourselves in this way? Whenever you think or say that you "should" or "ought" to do something, recognize that you are putting yourself in the wrong in some way. Change your list, replacing should with could and start each statement with "If I really wanted to .."
Examples: If I really wanted to I could read a lot more.
Rewrite your list in this way and you might find that there are some things that your don't even want to change! Don't be a "should" victim, trapped by guilt. Allow yourself the possibility of "could" and you will become free to allow positive changes into your life.
Next Month: Suggestion 30: Make a Success List
