1.  Interesting Reiki Stories:
Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki
as a tool in healing.  If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us,
otherwise I will try to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web.

Out of the Archives...
No one submitted a Reiki experience for this month, but I came across a reiki story I had
written up back in August of 2004..
This past month has provided me with more than enough emergency first-aid Reiki
experiences to share with the group…hmm, wonder what’s up with that?  At the
beginning of the month, the first experience occurred when my family and I were
attending a 4th of July picnic.

My husband, Scott, and daughter, Jenna were partners in a bocci ball match.  For those
who may not be familiar with this game, two teams play against each other, each team
having 4 very hard balls, about the size of a grapefruit.  A smaller ball, the size of a pool
table ball is thrown by one team.  All 8 balls are then thrown or rolled, the object being to
be the team that can throw their ball or balls closest to the target to gain the most points.

As my husband was playing, he had just finished commenting in a joking way how
dangerous the sport of bocci was.  No sooner had he spoken the words, Jenna,
accidentally threw the ball which landed on the top of Scott’s balding head, ouch! That
quickly ended the game, ice was applied, and a big egg  starting forming at the point of
contact.. needless to say, he was hurting. I began to Reiki the area and continued for
about ½ hour.  The swelling went down substantially, he was no longer in a great deal of
pain, experiencing only minor discomfort.  I was anticipating that a big headache might
move along into the area or that he might have suffered a concussion, but neither
occurred.  The following day, you really had to look hard to find the spot where
he had been hit.  Moral of the story:  sometimes the universe responds instantly to what
thoughts we put out there…

This month I had a series of personal little mishaps, all in the span of a few days…the first
one- I was using the hot glue gun, and dropped glue on myself, pulling off my skin with the
piece of melted glue which was painful…I did a very brief bit of Reiki, (1 minute) not
enough as was needed  for the injury, because I was in the middle of things that needed
my complete attention, or so I thought…as a result, it did help by not blistering, but it took
a longer time to heal than if I had done what I knew needed to be done…

The second incident: I was rushing to get dinner ready so the kids could get out on time
and go to their activities, I cut my finger with a knife…again, too much in a rush to stop
and Reiki the cut, I cleaned it up, put on a bandage and finished the meal preparation, the
cut took several days to heal.

Third incident-  I had a rectangular glass baking dish sitting on the front burner of the
stove, I put a pot of water to boil on the back burner…again, rushing to get dinner
ready…I left the glass dish sitting where it was, turned what I thought was
the back burner on-to High to heat the water, then continued other food preparations….
suddenly, there was a loud explosion…the front burner was bright red with remnants
of the baking dish sitting on top…glass  shattered everywhere…not thinking, just quickly
responding, I picked up a large piece of glass that flew across the counter,
with bare hands, burning the pads of my thumb and index finger, now this was real pain,
much more excruciating than the hot glue burn, and it got my attention loud and clear.
I got out a bottle of Aloe Juice in the fridge, put it in a bowl and put my hand in there
for about 5 minutes then took it out and Reikied it for about 15 minutes, leaving the
shattered glass on the floor and counters and dinner waiting until I had taken care
of my needs first.

The next day, I was outside in the yard, hanging some wooden clothespins on the line…
I noticed an old set chime bells that were hanging on the wooden clothes line pole, and
picked them up to ring them…unaware there were wasps in the bells…promptly, I was
stung for invading their space, luckily only once…this pain was even worse than the
baking dish burn…I ran into the house immediately…even thinking about this now
triggers the response I was experiencing…the pain was like waves of concentric circles
moving throughout my body, the knuckle and finger immediately swelled, and I starting
panicking…thinking this is probably an allergic reaction, since I have never been stung by
a wasp before….I went for the homeopathic remedy Apis which I knew I had but could not
find it in the box of remedies…I had my daughter Jenna look through the box also since I
was so panic stricken by the full body reaction I was experiencing…we could not find the
Apis…we looked through that box together and separately, several times, and could
not see it…I then got out one of my books and looked up another remedy and found I
could use Ledum, which I knew was in the box…I took the remedy and within minutes, the
concentric movement of pain and throbbing throughout the trunk of my body ceased and
the throbbing of the finger area started to subside, I was able to calm myself enough to
begin to Reiki the sting, the longer I reikied the calmer I got, the throbbing disappeared to
just a bare minimum and the swelling reduced rapidly….at this point I said Enough!  I hear
what you are telling me! I get it!  All of these incidents occurred within the period of 1
week, all involved my hands, and each injury got progressively more severe …

So what did I learn from all of this hammering from Spirit?  SLOW DOWN! Rushing as a
full time occupation, enables one to create on-going stress and miss all of life as it passes
by…so many times we have the intellectual knowledge but are lacking in the practical
application of what the knowledge has taught us…this was a big reminder to me to use
more consistently what I know and to place my priorities in order…oh, by the way, after
things settled down with my sting and I went to put my box of homeopathic remedies away,
guess what was sitting on top of the pile?  Apis!  Go figure!   So bottom line, for all of us
practitioner’s out there, let’s remember what we know---Reiki does come in handy, it is
easy to use, it is an effective technique—but only if we chose to use it.  Susan

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:

Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time.Remember if there
are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki.  One
suggestion would be:  When time permits-- send long distance Reiki for one specific
request,  then add that request  to an on-going list or stack that receives
unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

Requests from Susan
Rose Mullen, for a peace transition.  For Gerri Nataline, AZ, for help in this time of grief
with the loss of her mother.

Leslie Harpel, Lansdale, for a smooth and successful back surgery, scheduled for March
11, at Doylestown, Hospital.

Request from Evelyn B
Please send LDR to Katherine Fisher, she has been in the hospital since Feb. 11.  It
started with pneumonia and then came complications.  They've finally taken the breathing
tube out, but she is still serious. She is in Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX.

Request from Karen S.
Please continue to send long distance reiki to my parents:
John and Anna Kulasa, Michigan. They are in their 90’s and are having multiple health
issues – kidney, gastro, heart, memory.  I would appreciate any help in making them more
comfortable. Thanks. Karen

3. Q & A
QUESTION:
I recently received this inquiry from an individual who will be taking the Level I Reiki Class:
Dear Susan, I have a friend who is VERY religious (Catholic).  I was telling her about Reiki
and how excited I am about it.  She cautioned me to be careful about who's energy was
being summoned.....referring to satan.  (hate that - when people, well meaning, try to
'burst my bubble'!) What are your thoughts about that?  (I never give the devil/satan a
thought.)

ANSWER:
Your question is a good one...one that I hear alot...when someone is questioning about
bringing in evil or demonic energy they are talking from a place of fear...not love.

When one speaks with God and brings God into their daily life through whatever practices
they choose to follow (Catholic, Jewish, Islam, Buddist, Spirituality, etc) do they have the
fear of bringing in the energy of the devil?  After all...talking with/praying/connecting to
God, is very simply put ...channeling God into us.

Often what we don't know- we fear.  What we fear-  we try to control.....Reiki is pure love
energy from our Source, otherwise known by many, many names (God). Where there is
light and love, darkness can not enter. Also think about The Secret and the Law of
Attraction...what we think about, we create...you don't think about those things, so you are
not drawing fear energy into you..Hope that answers your question.

QUESTION:
How do I work with my angels or guides during a Reiki session?

ANSWER:
If I am inviting in Ascended Masters or other guides to assist with the session, I will do so
at the very beginning of opening the treatment. Just call upon Them. Here is an example:
" I now call forth the thought forms of
XXXXX and ask that you join me now during this Reiki
session for
Client's Name.  Please assist in whatever way you feel would be best for
his/her highest good."  When you are completed with your request or work that you are
doing, Thank your Angel/Guidesfor their help, and release them.

The more you do this the stronger your connection will feel with your Angel/Guide. I will
often invite in Archangel Micheal, Archangel Raphael, and my personal guides. It is a
personal preference.  At times when guides are in attendance for a session, the client will
have that awareness.  They may indicate they have felt more than one pair of hands on
them, or they may feel or see or sense in some way the presence of a large angel in the
room.

7.  Working with Others:
Moving the Energy Flow
When doing Reiki, there are times that an energetic blockage can be really locked into the
body and it is helpful to utilize a few additional techniques during the treatment process
which helps move the blockages along. This is especially true if while giving Reiki to an
area that has shown an energetic restriction, the energy seems difficult to move, is feeling
very concentrated or is taking a long time to drain out or release. These techniques will
assist in breaking up the energy patterns holding the blockage in place.

These techniques come by a variety of names, depending on which modality is being
utilized or who has taught the techniques.  But regardless of the name that the technique
is being labeled, the important thing when using them while doing Reiki, is remain a clear
and open channel and not to become attached to the process or the results.

The Triangle Technique:
This is a simple, effective two-handed method for removing blocked energy.
1.  Place your hands palms down, with the tips of your pointer fingers touching
and your thumbnails overlapping.  Your hands, especially the open area
between them, form the shape of a triangle.
2.  Form the triangle directly on or 2-6 inches above the area to be worked on.
When working above the body, you are moving into other areas of the aura
of the body…the etheric double, the emotional, the mental, the spiritual.
3.  Visualize and feel the Reiki energy as well as healing colors coming from the
palms of your hands and your fingers, penetrating directly into the area you
are working on.
4.  As the Reiki energy penetrates the area, visualize the energy blockage breaking
up.  See and feel this blockage being pushed up and out through the center of
the triangle and being released and immediately transmuted.
5.  It is also beneficial when you  have the person receiving the treatment
participate in the visualization process.  The more actively engaged in the process
the person is while receiving the treatment, the more they will benefit.  This active
engagement can take on many different forms, use the one that works best for
you and the person receiving the Reiki.

The triangle is a sacred and powerful symbol.  For me, it feels intuitively natural to use
during a Reiki session and was a technique I began using as just that..through intuitive
inspiration, before I began reading and learning about its application in other areas.

Let’s take a look at the triangle as a symbol.  A symbol can be defined as a means of
communication that goes beyond the ability of expressed language- written or spoken.
It is something that is felt, and it is felt on a number of different levels, invoking a variety
of feelings and emotions.  Each response to a symbol is highly individualistic—based on
our experiences, perceptions, background, culture. etc.

So keeping this in mind—read through some of the interpretations I have gathered from
different resources regarding the triangle, some, none, or all may resonate with you…
what were are trying to explore here is the metaphysical meaning the triangle has for
you personally.

Triangle: The triangle is the strongest geometric form. It cannot collapse unless one
of it's joints give out. The triangle can be used to represent the 4 basic elements:
earth, air, fire. and water.

The Triangle represents the active principle and is often used as a symbol of fire. It's
energy is dynamic and it creates change, moves forcibly and with  power.

The Triangle associated with the number three. Pointing upwards, it symbolizes fire,
male power and counterfeit view of God. To Christians, it often represents the Trinity.
Pointing down, it symbolizes water, female sexuality, goddess religions and homosexuality.

The Triangle is a symbol of manifestation. It will amplify anything put into it.
Triangles have an effect on anything inside them. In the 1970's triangle shapes were
used to preserve milk and other food without refrigeration. I do not recommend anyone
doing that as the technology is more complicated than I am explaining here and one might
get ill if they try that, but commercially it was done. I know with my own experiments with
pyramid shapes, I mummified meat in 3 days with just a simple, basic pyramid.
My grandfathers' razor blades (before the days of Bic throwaways) lasted for
one year when stored in a pyramid. As you can see the triangle amplifies the energy in
a unique way.

The Triangle The three is symbolic of multiplicity: creative power, growth and the forward
movement overcoming duality. In the Tao three is the central number of equilibrium.
The Triangle The triangle is a mystical symbol.  The pyramids of ancient Egypt are
built in this shape.  A triangle has three equal sides, and the number 3 may be regarded
as a symbol of completion.  The number 3 appears throughout history in many cultures
and religions.  There are, for example, the three worlds or three levels of consciousness:
consciousness, unconsciousness, and cosmic consciousness.  Western psychology may
define these same three worlds as the ego, the shadow and the self.

The Triangle
In Christianity the number 3 is exemplified by way of the Holy Trinity.
This concept suggests that three apparent gods are, in fact, one and the same. This
would seem, once again, to be our eternal triad of body, mind and spirit.  God the Son is
the body, God the Father is the mind, and God the Holy Ghost is the spirit.  These
constitute the whole person.

The Triangle:
Manifestation of the spirit in the body as the life force, the need of
spirit to extend itself through creative expression, and true expression of spirit, which spirit
comes when we realize we are spirit.

The Triangle: This sign holds the power of integration through the trinity: of  body, mind,
and spirit; of mother, father, and child; of past, present, and future; of the Holy Trinity.
Represents time of  integration in life.  It also embodies the power of the pyramids. It is an
active symbol of spirit and aspiring to higher realms. Two triangles- one in the normal
position and one inverted and superimposed on the first-form a six-pointed star, called
Solomon’s Seal, that is a symbol for the human soul. The triangle also has the power of
protection.  This sign says, you are safe and you are being protected.

The Triangle carries the
theme of self-discovery and revelation, the shape stands for
goals, visions, and dreams.  It is the universal shape associated with the attainment of
desired goals, and with the ability to envision new possibilities.

9.  Tips & Tidbits:

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 26:  Identify and Eliminate Unnecessary Stressors
A certain amount of stress encourages us to achieve and to be dynamic in our lives as we
learn to overcome life's challenges. However, too much stress can cause exhaustion,
depression, lethargy and even illness. We all reach differently to situations. One person's
exhilarator is another's stress poison. Identify the unnecessary harmful stress in your life
and eliminate it.

Exercise:
Make a list of all the things that are negatively stressful to you. Think carefuly about each
stressor. Can you let go of it, change it or accept it in some way? Make a table and find a
constructive approach ot the elimination of unnecessary stress in your life.

SAMPLE:
Stressor:  I always feel lethargic.
Options:
___  Let Go:
___  Change:  Cut down on alcohol and junk food. Eat healthy and exercise more.
___  Accept:
Consequences:
Feeling Better, looking better, feeling more in control, increased self-respect
