1.  Interesting Reiki Stories:

Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki
as a tool in healing.  If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us,
otherwise I will try to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web.

This month's Reiki Story removed by request the original web source.

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:

Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time. Remember if there
are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki.  One
suggestion would be:  When time permits-- send long distance Reiki for one specific
request,  then add that request  to an on-going list or stack that receives
unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

Request Submitted by Jenn R
Can you please put my mom's Yellow Lab 9 year old Gryffin Licata on the LDR list he has
a large cancerous tumor on his left back leg.  It is huge and we are hoping that it can
shrink a little so he is not in too much pain from it.  Have chosen to give him some quality
of life and just treat him with Reiki and pain Meds,  MD thinks it already has spread as it is
a quick spreading CA

Bernadette:
I do have a request.  It's sort of a strange one.  My 9 year old Yellow Lab (the sweetest
dog in the world), has been diagnosed with cancer.  My husband and I decided not to
remove his leg, but to treat his pain with medication.  If it's OK to add him to the list I'd
really like to

It’s me again with another request.  My mom fell and broke a couple of bones so she is in
a nursing home getting physical therapy.  The going is slow though because she is 96.
We told her we would never put her in a nursing home so she is kind of confused on
where she is.  We keep telling her it’s a hospital rehab center, which it basically is.  We
would like her to come home as soon as possible.  My dad is home missing her.  He is 97
and is now having a hard time walking.  Would appreciate the long distance reiki for them.

Please send reiki and healing energy to my friend Dave Eddy...they just found a spot on
his lung which has not yet been diagnosed.

Request Submitted by Pat S
My husband Frank has been diagnosed with Parkinson's.   I'd like to ask for LDR for him
& his ability to work.   He's an electrical engineer & depends on computer work in which
tremors make it very difficult.   We will be seeing doctors at the Movement Disorders
Center down at Penn in Phila.

This section will be updated as requests come in, if you have a request for Long
Distance Reiki, email it to
seedsforchange@comcast.net, title the request Long
Distance Reiki
3. Q & A

QUESTION:
Is Reiki still working if I don't feel anything different happening?

ANSWER:
Reiki works on a subtle energetic level and some are unable at times to experience it at a
conscious level.  This does not mean that the energy is not working.  However, it is very
unusual for a person receiving a full Reiki treatment not to feel relaxed.

QUESTION:
How can you use Reiki with plants?

ANSWER:
Plant life is equally as receptive and appreciative of Reiki energy, as all other life forms.
Generally, plants seem to take Reiki just like human beings and will often live longer than
average as a result.  One way of testing this is to take two plants of the same kind and
keep them in identical conditions.  Treat one with Reiki daily.  You should notice a
considerable different between the two in a few months.

It is a good idea to hold seeds between you hands for a few minutes before planting
them. Cut flowers can be treated by holding the vase and pot plants by holding the post
to treat the roots.  If you wish to treat plants outside, simply hold your hands over the soil,
directing the energy at the roots.  Trees can be treated by giving them a hug.    Be
adventurous and creative, you may be surprised at the results!
4.  What's New?

Our office location in Silverdale, PA is now closed.   Our intent is to continue to offer
our classes through a
hosting program.

The Reiki newsletter will continue until the end of this year.  The issues that are archived
on line will remain on the website, but at this point I no longer intend to continue to put out
a monthly publication.  I hope those who have followed this newsletter through the years
have found it informative and beneficial for both continued spiritual growth and as a
motivating tool to keep you inspired to work with this wonderful healing modality.

Five Ways to Relax Anywhere
Sometimes you need to relax when you're out and about and it's not convenient to take
twenty minutes to lie down and relax totally: maybe on your way to a crucial appointment,
in an interview, giving a presentation, or any other situation normally regarded as highly
stressful. Here are five ways to relax that you can use to relax anywhere.

1. Peripheral vision

Look at the wall opposite you and find a point which is straight ahead and a little above
eye level. Continue to look at this point in soft focus throughout this exercise. After a while
you may find that as you concentrate on this point the rest of the room goes a little dark,
or vague, or fuzzy, and you develop a kind of tunnel vision. We use this tunnel vision a lot
in modern society – watching TV or using a computer, we only see the screen; when we
read or write, we are focused on the words; even when we talk to someone, we often only
look at their eyes or their face and ignore the rest of them. This tunnel vision goes with a
kind of inner 'tunnel vision', where we get obsessed or fixated on things, and it goes with
worry, adrenaline, rushing around, stress.

But there is another way of looking at things, and I'd like you to experience that now.
Keeping your eyes on that point, begin to broaden your field of vision and notice more
and more of what's either side of that point, so that soon you're paying attention to what
you can see out of the corners of your eyes on each side. And you can take your
awareness even further around behind you than that; all the way round, 360 degrees; of
course I'm not suggesting that you can see behind you, but you can use your sense of
hearing or spatial awareness to be aware of what's behind you as well.

As you stay in peripheral vision, you may notice that your breathing has moved lower
down in your chest and maybe slowed down or become deeper; that the muscles of your
face have relaxed, perhaps especially your jaw muscles, and you can help those along to
relax even more; and it's probably too soon for this to have happened just yet, but if you
were to stay in peripheral vision for any length of time, you might find your hands begin to
get warm; or even your feet. But it's probably a bit soon for that to have happened just
yet.

The interesting thing is that when you go into peripheral vision you seem to activate the
parasympathetic nervous system; the part of your nervous system that calms you down,
and slows you down, and lets your mind, and body and emotions come back into balance.

So begin to come back by letting your field of vision return to normal. Peripheral vision is
particularly useful when speaking in public; not only does it calm your nerves, but you can
see the whole audience, and you are much more aware of any little movements they
make, so you can gauge how they are reacting. You only need to go into peripheral
vision a little way to contact that deep reserve of peace and tranquillity that exists in each
one of us.

If you're the kind of person who normally has a lot of internal dialogue or commentary,
what happened to it while you were in peripheral vision? Many people find it slows down
or stops altogether.

2. Focus on your breathing

Just close your eyes and focus on your breathing. And you don't have to change your
breathing in any way at all although you may find that after a while your breathing shifts
by itself. And any time you find your attention wandering, just return it to focus on your
breathing. If you have any tension in any part of your body, let go of the tension by
imagining you are breathing into that part.

Because breathing is normally unconscious, but you can control it consciously, changing
your breathing, or just becoming aware of it, is an easy way to change your physiological
state.

3. Centering

Where you put your attention in your body has a big effect on how you feel, and even on
how strong you are. This is recognized in the ancient traditions of yoga and the martial
arts.

Just pay attention to a point which is a few inches below your navel, and half way between
the front of you and the back of you - in the centre of your body. At the same time look
straight ahead and go into peripheral vision. Let your body relax, and make sure your
knees aren't locked. You can maintain this focus on your central point all the time,
whatever you are doing. If you're really focused on this point, your body can't feel anxiety,
so it's useful for confrontations and pressure situations.

4. Project an energy bubble

Imagine that you have a bubble of energy projecting out from your central point and
surrounding you like a sort of science fiction force-field. Everything stressful that happens
outside this bubble just bounces off and away from you, leaving you calm and still inside
the bubble. So the more stressful it is outside, the calmer you are inside. Now I'm not
suggesting that there really is a bubble of energy around you in outer reality, but your
unconscious mind doesn't distinguish between imagination and "reality". So if you imagine
that you are shielded from stress, you will be! This is another good one for pressure
situations, but you don't just have to use it as a shield. When you give a presentation,
extend your energy bubble all the way out to the back and side walls of the room, and
then pull it in slightly to embrace and include your whole audience. They will notice the
difference!

5. Float up above yourself

Sometimes in emotionally fraught situations it can be a good idea to detach yourself so
that you can calm down and get things in perspective. A good way to do this is to float up
above the situation. Try it now.

Imagine that you are floating out of your body, higher and higher, and looking down at
yourself. Float up until you reach a height at which you are completely comfortable. You'll
notice that the higher up you float, the more detached you feel.

You can do this with memories or with imagined future situations as well. If the memory
involves other people, float up above the memory of yourself as you interact with them.
Observe the scene as a whole system - notice how they react to what you do and say,
and how you react to what they do and say. What do you learn from this new perspective?

With a bit of practice you'll be able to do this in a situation as it happens.

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 46: Stay Cool
Can you imagine how it would be to feel calm and centred as you go about your daily
business? Some people say that they only feel truly alive when they are feeling strong
and powerful emotions. But these heavy feelings lead us from a calm and balanced state
onto a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows. When we calm our emotions we don't
stop having strong feelings, but they no longer rule our lives. We are more than a ragbag
of emotions, we have a strong and powerful inner self which guides and directs us
towards the good. If our emotions are turbulent we cannot connect with our wise inner self
and then things start to get out of control.

Think of a time when your emotions ran away with you. Did you say what you wanted to
say? Did you act the way you wanted to act? Did you get the result you wanted? The
answers were probably "no". It's hard to remain clear and in control when you are feeling
hot and bothered. Here is a brilliant little exercise which will cool you out. Try it before you
laugh at it. It really works!

EXERCISE- THE EMOTIONAL COOLER
If you are feeling worried, nervous, angry, upset or irritable try this:

1. Put your right thumb over your right nostril, just lightly closing it off.

2. Exhale, Inhale slowly through your left nostril only for twenty complete breaths.

Keep your mouth closed all the time

Make the breaths as long and smooth as you can

Each time your exhale let go of all tension, hurt, anger, irritability and any other
negative emotions. Visualize these emotions draining out of your body so that you
    can feel clear and positive.

3. You may have to excuse yourself for a few moments to do this. Its very useful during a
heated telephone discussion and it is possible to do it without being detected.

Research has shown that physiological and psychological states are reflected in the way
that we breathe. By controlling which nostril is functioning we can tune in to the different
hemispheres of the brain. When we breath through our left nostril we are connecting with
the right side of our brain which controls our receptive, spiritual and inner awareness. Do
this exercise now, before the heat is on and feel the difference in your relaxation level.
