1.  Interesting Reiki Stories:

Reiki stories are posted as a way to help keep us inspired and to remember to use Reiki
as a tool in healing.  If you have an experience or story to share, please forward it to us,
otherwise I will try to post a story or two monthly that I find on the web.

Son's Accident and Reiki
In accordance with the Reiki method of natural healing I received the Reiki level of the first
degree on May 6th, 1999. On May 27th, 1999 my 18 year old son was in a bad motorcycle
accident. Besides a broken collar bone, a lot of road burn to his body, a cat scan revealed
a concussion with bruising to the brain. On May 29th a second cat scan showed no
change, and we were able to bring him home. The next day he became uncomfortable
with pain in his head. I gave him the medicine for pain, which did not help any. My son
begged me to help, for the pain was so great. I then told him about Reiki, saying it was a
healing energy. He agreed to receive it. I spent about 45 min. to one hour of treatment to
only his head until he fell asleep. I'm so pleased to say he has had no pain in the head
area to this day!!!!!

I look forward to Reiki 2nd degree. Martha in Escondido, Ca

Reiki Helps Lump in Breast
I am a second-degree Reiki practitioner, and my sister trained me.  I have seen so many
miracles in the time since I have been certified that I truly believe in Reiki.  I have always
felt a calling, if you will, to something greater than just the "day-to-day" understanding of
life.

Prior to Reiki, I had taken some tests, a mammogram and then a sonogram.  The findings
were a lump in my left breast, and they wanted me to go for an MRI.  In the interim, my
sister invited me up to a training lcass that she was giving, which I graciously accepted as I
was grasping at hope and my faith was all but a fading light on a burnt-out candle.  I went
and had an intesive three day training in Reiki 1 and 2, and passed!  She does put me
through the grinder, you know, little sister and all!  I came home glowing!  I felt so
complete and together!  Nothing could drag me down!

I went for the MRI and continued the self-Reiki and MAP sessions that I was taught.  Two
weeks after the MRI, I finally called for answers and was told that there were no unusual
tissues, no masses, and no lumps in either breast and that all was clean and negative.

I am so grateful.  I have the ability to help myself and others through Reiki, and I intend to
make it a very intimate and necessary part of my life!  I am so glad I have taken the steps
toward a more spiritual, universal, and healing future.  Thank you and most of all thanks
to my sister, Jeanne Boyce, R.M., who brought this into my life!  Love and peace to all!

Healing a Wrist Injury
In doing stock work, in my shoe store business on the Big Island, I injured both WRISTS
and needed to wear wrist braces on both wrists. I was not able to lift with either HAND.
This was a cumulative INJURY over eight years. After moving to Kauai, and being initiated
into Reiki, and administering self-treatments, I no longer needed the wrist braces.

My sister and I wanted to open a cafe and bookstore on Kauai. We were told it took
months to get approval from the Planning Department. We put our business plans under
the Reiki table during Reiki gatherings where they absorbed the positive flow of energy.
Self-treatments assisted us to be centered and have CLARITY in our dealings. The
results were that we interacted well with the Planning staff and the plans went through in
ten weeks.

After my daughters saw the positive results of Reiki, they received their Reiki training.

Do You Have A Reiki Experience or Story You Want to Share?
Sharing Reiki is not only done through giving and receiving sessions but it is also done by
telling others some of the things you have personally experienced and witnessed Reiki
being used or how you use Reiki in your personal life.  This provides a way to help inspire
others or give people ideas concerning things they may not have thought of.  I know it is
not always easy to write things down, but please consider sharing your experiences, they
have a huge impact on others. -Susan

2.  Requests for Long Distance Healing:

Requests for Long Distance Healing:
When there are several requests, in our small way, we can participate by adding each
individual to our prayer list or to send long distance Reiki.  Please consider printing out
these requests so you can remember these people over this next month.

If you make a request for long distance healing, it would be helpful if you could provide us
with some feedback on how the person is doing after a period of time. Remember if there
are multiple requests, you can use the stack method of sending long distance Reiki.  One
suggestion would be:  When time permits-- send long distance Reiki for one specific
request,  then add that request  to an on-going list or stack that receives
unlimited Reiki.

Level I Practitioners:
You can participate in the Long Distance Requests by adding the individuals to your
prayer list or send positive thoughts and intentions.

Requests from Susan
Please continue to keep these individuals on your Long Distance or Prayer list as they
recover from their present health challenges. The progress they are making is in part a
result of all the loving thoughts, prayers and reiki being focused in their direction.

Phillip Dezzi, Charlotte, NC...please send Long Distance Reiki or add my cousin Phillip to
your prayer list.  He was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer.  He has had surgery and
has received radiation treatment. Also keep his wife Wanda and daughter Christa in
your thoughts and prayers.  Thank you

Mary Jean Lista, Hilltown, PA...please send your prayers and long distance reiki for my
aunt who had a massive stroke. receiving care.  Your thoughts and prayers are very much
appreciated, Thanks so much!

This section will be updated as requests come in, if you have a request for Long
Distance Reiki, email it to
seedsforchange@comcast.net, title the request Long
Distance Reiki
3. Q & A

QUESTION:
Does a Reiki session take away negative energy and replace it with positive energy?

ANSWER:
No. Reiki is the energy of everything and is often described as universal life force energy.
In the West the two components of this energy are referred to as Yin and Yang with
neither being good or bad, positive or negative, simply dual elements.  Reiki is a subtle
energy that works toward creating balance in the body. Your specific needs at the time of
your treatment will determine how the balance will occur as the two forces balance
harmoniously. Labeling experiences restricts their energetic flow.

QUESTION:
I have a pacemaker, if I receive a Reiki treatment, will this stop the pacemaker?

ANSWER:
Reiki is a subtle energy that works toward creating balance in the body.  It does not affect
any electrical appliance, including a pacemaker.

QUESTION:
Can the energy from a Reiki session cause me any ill effects like make my condition
worse?

ANSWER:
Reiki energy does not cause pain or ill effects on any conditions. Reiki is safe and gentle
enough for all populations.  It often relieves symptoms of many illnesses through the deep
relaxation that it promotes.  To heal, you eventually need to face all sides of yourself
including your fears and darkest issues.

A Reiki treatment can bring these issues to the surface and offer you the opportunity to
take responsibility for your personal spiritual progress, letting go of self-condemnation
and working toward balance instead.

As a treatment or session is done,  a healing crisis may occur, although this is more the
exception rather than the rule.  Just like any other therapy someone may engage in, as
the healing process unfolds, a healing crisis may come to the surface for a short period of
time as a way to allow a release to occur.  If this does happen, the release may be rapid,
flooding the body, giving a feeling of symptoms worsening. This generally passes very
quickly and one feels much better after it passes.

THE REIKI JOURNAL
By Anna Parkins
Source

There are many reasons for writing a journal, mostly as a popular tool for discovery or
transformation. There have been magazines and books on personal journaling, all
providing ideas and tools and the how, what and when aspects.

When I ask my students to write a Reiki Journal, it is not with the intent of creating a
transformative tool, but as a record of their Reiki experiences. One of the reasons I feel
strongly about this is because it was something I did not do when in my  first Reiki class. In
fact it was not until I started teaching classes that I realized the value of a journal because
I could not retell actual Reiki stories or experiences, just because I had not written them
down.

A Reiki Journal is a great way to note your feelings and experiences as you grow your
Reiki practice. Naturally, in telling others your stories, it is important to maintain
confidences and not mention actual names or reveal information that might betray the
confidence placed in you. Remember, the journal is very personal, so make sure you
divulge only what is appropriate.

One of the best opportunities to start your journal is after the attunement while thoughts
are still fresh in your mind. Even if you think you did not experience any sensations or
visual images, it is worth noting what emotions or thoughts you had. This is the beginning
of a wonderful journey. You may also want to write down any ideas that come to you
during your Reiki sessions and also keep track of any health benefits you find while
performing Reiki regularly.

Keeping a journal allows you to write down:
- Class notes while studying Reiki

- Inspirational messages received during a session or attunement

- Feelings, sensations, or ideas that come up while receiving a Reiki session

- Experiences of your own and your client while giving a Reiki session

- Free writing or journaling (while writing whatever comes to your head, you may find
answers to long-standing problems)

- Reiki group share experiences.

Some teachers like Paula Horan ask their students to keep a journal for the first 21 days
after receiving the attunement and also to write down their dreams during this time. Paula
explains her reasoning this way:

“During the 21 day cleanse process, a quickening occurs in the body/mind. As the life
force energy is shifted to a higher, more loving frequency, what you have previously
experienced as negative or dense thoughts and emotions are released. It is beneficial to
keep a journal at this time to record whatever occurs.

It is important that you do not censor what comes up during your spontaneous diary
session. Remember, the point of journal writing is not to describe beautiful events and
happenings. You only have to write down what is passing through you at the moment, as
truthfully as you possibly can, without embellishment and with all the feelings and
emotions this evokes in you.

Journal writing helps draw your attention to the old patterns that come up so they can
finally be let go of. Very often, the simple act of noticing one’s own emotional or mental
patterns rising up and the ego then acting them out diminishes their power over us with
time.”

The Everything Reiki Book suggests how to start your journal from purchasing the
materials to dedicating your journal to writing down your 21-day purification diet, number
of self-treatments, hours of sleep, etc. Your journal can include Reiki affirmations and
Reiki requests.

So if you are wondering whether I have a journal now or write down my experiences, the
answer is YES. Not only does it intensify the experience for me by actually writing it down,
but also I can look back at significant events. And, yes, it can be a transformative tool. So,
if you are a Reiki practitioner and are wondering how to use your journal, let me propose
a few ideas in addition to the ones listed above:

How long have you been practicing Reiki?
Do you practice on a regular basis?
Can you describe your life before and after Reiki?
What have your family/friends/clients experienced as a result of receiving Reiki?
How do you feel after a Reiki treatment?
What are the results of sending/receiving distance Reiki?

At one time, it seemed to be important that I tell people that my clients no longer
experienced aches or pains, etc. that I somehow “prove” that I was a Reiki healer. And
sometimes people were looking for miracles from me, but as we all know the miracles are
within them. If I had kept a journal then, I could have come up with facts and data. For this
reason the idea of journaling may appeal to you. I no longer find that I am put on the
witness stand and am more allowing of those who are attracted to my energy and just
show up. However, my Reiki stories are now being written down and I now have many
pages.

If you are a Reiki teacher, you may want to journal your thoughts before and after a class.
Every class is different in that the students bring different questions and awareness (and
share their journal experiences). Through writing you can experience personal growth and
the journal becomes a tool for transformation. You can see the progress you made from
the beginning of your journal writing or for a period of time.

As mentioned, the journal is a very personal document. No one is going to grade your
grammar or spelling. No one is going to read it besides you. No one is going to say you
cannot draw pictures or doodle in your journal. It is not necessary to write in your journal
every day. Do not be hard on yourself. If you choose, write in a notebook. The Reiki
Journal is just for you.

Allow me to encourage you to keep a Reiki Journal. If you began a journal after our first
attunement and it is a regular practice, then I applaud you and hope you are smiling. As
always, I welcome your ideas and suggestions and hope this article has been helpful.

60 Ways to Heal Your Life… From Lynda Field’s book
Each month one of Lynda’s suggestion is included:

Suggestion 33:  Soften Your Focus

This world is a wonderful place

How do you respond to this statement? We often let our lives become humdrum and
ordinary. As the years pass we are inclined to live our lives more and more according to
our habits. Perhaps you always go through the same ritual when you get up in the
morning and such a habit may be useful because it saves time. However, habitual
responses in our though, behavior and emotional processes can limit our experiences and
take the magic and spontaneity from our lives. Here is a technique to help you to lift out of
your habitual behavior into a state of alert and enhanced awareness:

EXERCISE- SOFTENING YOUR FOCUS
1. Next time you are walking down the street stare at the pavement or look ahead and
become aware of the focus of your vision. How far are you looking?

2.  Now stop and expand your awareness. Rather than focus on one thing expand your
visual awareness: you will feel your focus "softening " as you do this.

3. Become conscious of all those things in the corners of your vision, experience the
colors and shapes of everything in your newly softened and enlarged focus.

4. Practice for a while and soon you will automatically begin to experience your
environment in new ways. Extend and soften your focus in a social situation- you will be
surprised at the additional information you will pick up about other people.

Your life will lose its "ordinariness" as you soften your focus and take in more about your
environment. Look for more and you will experience more. Keep Practising!

Next Month: Suggestion 34: Make Your Own Mission Statement
